Interesting heat map too, the usual suspects are what I would have expected, but I was surprised to see a lot of Europe apparently heavily into click fraud.

    This is more recent data:

    http://clickforensics.com/Pages/click-fraud-index.asp

In fact this data puts developed countries like France and Canada above India in the fraud list (See the heat map).

    I don't think.

I guess it's because others have more advanced fraud methods than "click gangs".

actually I can see the difference

about 1 year back on orkut I used to get
"HEY CLICK ADS on THIS SITE 3 TIMES" like scraps almost everyday but now I see a very few of them

    reason can be
    1) they are bored of getting banned
    2) they are understanding the system better

I think its safe to say that most people in the USA & Japan are better off "financially" (not being arrogant) then in different
parts of the world and when you figure in that in some countries the US dollar is 3x or like in Africa 100x times
the currency rate then it becomes very profitable to commit click fraud .

I was also surprised to see that Argentina was also a hott spot, but then again the currency difference would influence such actions.

Unfortunately "if theres a will theres a way" and this will continue to happen
    thx

Arrogant google should change their click fraud detection algothirm, if an user has not got a paypal account (preferably verified one) or a credit card it is useless counting the click from him.

Although the results are not that surprising, do you really think that this info was obtained or released by Google? If not, there is no way for knowing if it is true, although it does look logical:D

    From the IP id...

If people want to make quick money by clicking their own ad means they are digging their own grave to bury the adsense account...

Theory: 'maybe' some competitors of a particular site would like to bring it down that's why they hire clickers from india to do some click frauds, since it is cheap or should I say more affordable if you hire people from their country.

Only people with half knowledge try to do click fraud because they think just asking others to click on your ads will not be caught at Google end because they don't have complete knowledge about Adsense and the way Google tracks click fraud. They fail to understand that an organization which is spending millions of dollars as salary to identify adsense accounts involved in click fraud will be smarter than click frauds.

It's not just IP address and cookies which are used to track a computer on the internet. There are many other variables which can be tracked. Your browser header information has many other variables like host name of your computer, browser agent information, http-referer, user name of your computer, etc.

There is a new variable available to from latest version of browsers called "REMOTE_IDENT" which will reveal more information to web server from client.

Google doesn't go with just ip address and cookies, it takes entire user agent information to detect click fraud.

Identical user agent info with different ip addresses will not help the click frauds, this means if you get your clicks from identical user agent and different ip addresses will be tagged as click fraud.

These Frauds can make some little money for 1 or 2 months but they are bound to get banned.

This click fraud scam can be easily eliminated by the 3 giants of internet Google, Yahoo and Microsoft. Surprisingly all of them are involved in CPC programs (Adsense, YPN, Adcenter). If they want to zero down the click fraud they can easily influence for an Unique browser id which will not be shared with users but with only web servers.

Microsoft is playing a role of Fox in this because click fraud is the only thing worrying Google and can be a vulnerable hurdle against it's growth. So, obviously Microsoft will keep quiet!
