To delete the wording you can use several different tools in Photoshop - the easiest I think would a be a clone stamp tool. It's not hard just time consuming (if you want to make it look good). I think it would be almost easier (and faster) to cut out partially that earth image and just recreate the header. All it is, is just few brushes to create light effects and gradient. You can try yourself or need to find somebody with a lot of time on their hands..;-) Good luck!
Do you own this image? Where are you using it? I can help you, but first and foremost, you should just redesign it. Taking out the words will look horrible.
