I'm working on a website that will include, as a reference, many (authorized) quotes from Wikipedia, newspapers, forums, etc. I find that when I copy and past those texts in to my (Frontpage) file, they generate/copy a lot of codes from the original file. I'm not an HTML expert, but I would like to remove ALL of them. I downloaded a freeware code cleaner, but it doesn't seem to remove even half of the unneeded code. Anyone a better solution?
You might be better copying the quotes into a text file first (which should remove all text effects), then copy it into your frontpage. I'd say you'd be better not even using frontpage, but you don't know how to code, so i'm not even going to try. Sorry if this sounds harsh, I just really don't like programs like frontpage and dreamweaver, people should know how to code before they even touch them.
100% right. These days you see people parading themselves as web designers when they cannot even write a simple <html> tag. If you come from a web design school, though you are presented with different web authoring tools or GUI, you are advised to code manually if you want to be good at what you do. I dont know for others but as for me i will follow the expert advise
Now, there you have a premium point! As a matter of facts, milkshakes should be prepared exclusively by cow milking graduates. You should only tank up your car if you are a petrochemist with proven experience in Texas or in the Gulf. Websites should only be designed by super brains full of codes and tags. This would eliminate about 99% of all existing websites, leaving the internet with only a bunch of forums where a handful of self-satisfied HTML experts whine over the cyber void. And great! This leaves me with a headache and I can't even take an aspirin since I'm not a physician.
Havent used Frontpage for 10 years or more but generally with WYSIWYG type editors it would be better to paste into the source rather than on the design window as it will then do a straight paste rather than interpritation of the formatting (copy from their source as well rather than the on screen display)
Websites "designed" (code wise I mean here, graphic design is something completely different) by those who don't know how is sweet and adorable, but it's a real pain in the ass to use them, because they don't work, don't work right, or only work with 500kb-size worth of scripts and hacks. Forget about the disabled while you're at it-- sure, they're paying customers, but then oh noes, you gotta know something like what is an <html> tag.... Eliminate about 99% of all existing websites? Is that a bad thing? Is it that hard to learn simple html? Css, yeah that one can be a real pain, but html... if a moron like me can learn it, ANYONE can. So long as they bother : )
