Classified script and PHP opinions

Well, before I drop 1k on the Geodesic Classifieds program , I was wondering if anyone had an opinion on Geodesic, or any other powerful classifieds script. Was also thinking of hiring a PHP programmer to build it, but I think it would cost more than Geodesic. Anyone have any suggestions?

I don't know anything about the script you mentioned.

I do know there a re a lot of classified scripts out there that sell for a LOT less. Have you looked at any others? Delta Scripts comes to mind at the moment.

Why think when you can browse live bids on elance.com guru.com rentacoder.com scriptlance.com and so on? Of course, these sites are hit-and-miss. You could get a poorly made script. If it's $1000 with support for a script with a longstanding reputation (ie. lots of bugs already fixed) it might be worth it.

You might also want to try a Google for "open source classifieds" as there may be some free scripts with a lot of development put into them.

    Regards

For me I am also very interested in theirs, have asked for the free download to try out, but till now have not received. I would hesitate to pay before trying out, though it looks impressive. Have you asked for their free version to try out?

From the beginning your get real excited about getting started. You start putting things in and then it happens. Things don't display right or some bug always exist. For over three years there has always been problems after problems. I have spent over 50K to try and make this work and after three years I have still not been able to get the site to work correctly or have they got the bugs cured.

I was very close to launch one time and then I was told there would be no more upgrades or updates to the version I had. I needed to change to another platform they created. I had to redo everything and lost all the original seed money to do what I had done.

People give great reviews for this product, but I personally thing they are staged. There is no way an average guy or girl could make this work unless they have at least 4 to 10 years of experience in HTML, CSS and many other programming lauguages.

Overall experience has been good if you like to buy a car with no wheels and you have to keep it in the garage.

BUYER BEWARE! There are still many flaws. Even the geo site has websites that don't work anymore. I ask you this if so many people are making so much money with the sites why would they close them down.

I talked with one of the guys on the resource list (www.geomodules.com) and he stated it's very hard to make the sites produce income. The only reason he even has his sites so he can charge people to make changes to it. Even his own site Equines.com or something like that only produces $500 to $1000 a month and he has had it for like five years.

So the bottom line is if you want a classifieds site be sure to have lots of money, time and patience to start with. Next make sure you have a degree in like 9 programs are you will be totally ripped off with this software.

I am not bitter, but I have wasted 3 years and over 50K in funds trying to make this work. Now I am telling the world it doesn't work and they have taken my money and everyone elses. I would say that only one in 2000 make money on their site and they did very little changes and know how to do the changes themselves. thanks and good luck

I've never used Geodesic but it seems highly overpriced from the demo on their site.

This is just from the point of view of a programmer. I used to code classified/auction sites (didn't sell scripts, but coded custom sites) for less than half that amount.. and Geodesic doesn't seem to do anything spectacular.

Have you looked at Noah's Classifieds? See ProfessionalProfiles link in my signature for a demo. Free script but you may have to pay someone 1K for custom design.
