classified advertising, getting traffic?

    Hey Guys,

    I could use some advice.....

Question about classified ads, and the use of keywords...

I've been posting ads on backpage for some months now. My results aren't great, but I make a few bucks. I admit my results as based on pure chance of visitor seeing my ad, and deciding he likes what he sees, then clicks my affiliate link, and maybe he purchases, maybe not.......not rocket science...I don't know how to drive traffic to my ad, other than a catchy headline...

So recently I decided to try USFREEADS. Well, it has been quite a different experience. almost no hits at all ...

I could use some help or suggestions if possible........

I notice that even though I purchase a "featured ad" it is not as visible as when I post on a backpage for example. On backpage I could post in a whole host of cities, where on USFREEADS, it seems you can't specify any state or city and they have no geographic breakdown?......that just maybe the way their site is, and maybe there is some other way to drive traffic, since it doesn't seem like a local access for different cities...

I realize there maybe different ways or methods involved ion getting traffic, I just don't know what they are. From what I gather "keywords" may be used......I vaguely understand that a keyword is that Googles "spiders" might look for as possible search engine results...I guess I had always thought as keywords being something that I had to bid on or purchase Google airtime for, but, I understand that is not necessarily the case, in that something like the words used in an ad, may also get you search engine rankings.....

    is that accurate anyone?????

My ad on USFREEADS is essentially a banner, but I notice in the html code there is a place to insert keywords, is that where they are inserted?......is this one and the same in as far as getting search engine ranking, without having to pay for keywords?

(sorry to be so long winded, it's essentially only one question I'm asking...)

any help would be much appreciated.....

use a keyword reasearch tool like the free Wordtracker tool.. This will give you a general idea on what keywords are good traffic for your niche... Try posting on a bunch of different websites.. You need to have diversity...Blogs, Your DP Sig, craigslist, digg, kijiji....Just do a google search for free advertising..

Try more classified advertising sites. keep on posting and you will learn from there. Sometimes, you will need to do something different to discover something good. Keep up your works.

There are just a few classified sites that receive a decent traffic.
CraigList, GumTree and Kijiji are the first that come in my mind right now.
Focus on them and forget the rest.

I would agree I'm not sure there is enough traffic to use USfreeads. Craigslist use to be my bread and butter. There is a huge list of free classfied ads that I promise you combined do not get the traffic Craiglist would get.

    hey you guys are great...

thanks for the info......so in your guy's estimation, trying to use keywords to drive traffic to an ad is not necessary or not the way to go?

(initially my question was how do I incorporate keywords into an ad, but from the feedback you guys are providing, that's not the answer)

I know some people say create links or backlinks that lead to an ad. Whenever I try to follow into about creating backlinks, or links, the information I find always says try this or that, but never actually shows me how? I do not know how to insert or create them, as opposed to giving general direction....has anyone seen any kink of tutorial that visually shows how it's done?
