We had this website serving classified ads website since 2007. Recently we made a redesign of the entire website, as well as added business social networking along with the classified ads. Our main goal is to offer a connect place for business, professionals, and people in general. Currently we have about 100,000 members, and growing. Like to have your opinion on the design, how we can improve functionality or anything you like to put your opinion onto. website url: http://www.webcosmo.com
thanks for making the review. which parts you would suggest could be improved to make it better then OK, may be make it a WOW. yes vinay you certainly can promote your products.
It DOES look good. If you really have such a high traffic I believe you can earn even more by adding different advertisements on your web (not just Google AdSense)
Well, it is on its best as it could be for now. Seems more than established website for no doubt. However, it would have been even awesome if you would use end user's IP and change the location automatically. Also, I would love to see 'Auto Parts' instead of "auto parts" as I personally believe it somewhat improve the overall appearance of the site. Lastly, it was my true pleasure to review such a wonderful site as yours.
its an established site. we are online since 2007, i guess that helped us as well. also it ranks on top 3 for many competitive keywords in the niche; in some cases rank better then craigslist - i guess that helps as well. i wish i had lot more traffic though
In my opinion you should work on design. Offcourse it's clean and nice right now but you can redesign it in style of: tablica.pl for example. Also I think it will be better when instead of links "http://www.webcosmo.com/listing/Details.aspx?postId=1527134" you should give more details in link and change "Details.aspx?postId=1527134" for "Akai_MPK49_Midi Keyboard_Controller_1527134" it will be better for Google where you can get extra traffic with this kind of optimalziation.
<broken record>Inaccessible fixed width layout that's too big for netbooks and uselessly small on my desktop, absurdly undersized fixed metric (px) fonts, illegible color contrasts like light blue on white, neon blue on dark blue, and orange on grey, and nothing remotely resembling logical heading orders, document structure or navigable semantics -- much less responsive design. Bottom line, it's an accessibility train wreck.</broken record> Seems to be blowing 400k in 14 separate scripting files for christmas only knows what (Not that there seems to be ANYTHING on the page that needs scripting), and it's 65k of markup for less than 2k of plaintext and one content image -- that's anywhere from five to ten times as much code as should have been used to build that page. Said code is stuffed to the gills with endless pointless nested DIV for nothing, outdated/broken methodologies, nonsensical use of numbered headings, tables for layout AND no tables around tabular data (so that's completely back-assward), malformed/inaccessible forms, non-breaking spaces on elements that shouldn't need content (or even exist in the markup), endless pointless classes on damned near everything that reeks of some form of "CSS framework" or nonsense like OOCSS (not digging deep enough to figure out which)... and really even the doctype -- the very first line -- says everything you need to know about the page. It's a tranny, which is to say the code is in transition from 1997 to 1998 coding practices. Last I checked this is 2013.
