Hello,

As a noobie to this forum please can someone explain, or point me in the direction of, what "Class C subnets” are and how they may affect your SEO efforts. I have started to use Majestic SEO and it doesn't have a lot of info.

    Many thanks,

    Nick

When you hear C-Class IP, it basically means that all of the IP's you are assigned have different C-Classes in the IP address. A C-Class IP is exactly the same as any other IP but the third set of numbers is different between different IP's. So you can have 2 IP's and one could be 101.225.221.12 and the other one could be 101.225.220.12. So the third class or third set of numbers is different.

When it comes to SEO, Search engines can compare linking sites to your domains to the IP they originate from. So if you have backlinks on 2 of your sites on the same server, but they each have different c-classes, it basically gives you more points on the SEO aspect according to the Search Engine. It does increase backlinks and page rankings.

Remember though, just having different c-class IP's does not replace having good, quality content that real users will actually read.
