Hello,

As a noobie to this forum please can someone explain, or point me in the direction of, what "Class C subnets” are and how they may affect your SEO efforts. I have started to use Majestic SEO and it doesn't have a lot of info.

Many thanks,

Nick

Class C refers to the C block of the hosting IP

yes, it is related to hosting and servers
but it actually is a SEO question

basically it means that the IPs of the sites linking to your site
should not have the same or similar IP

the 1st or the 2nd number of the IP (or both) should be different

in case of the subnet, the first 3 numbers of the IP are identical

it affects SEO efforts as it helps the link diversity (different sources and different IPs) when you do link building

[h=3][/h]A subnetwork, or subnet, is a logically visible subdivision of an IP network. .... This determined the class (A, B, C) of the address and therefore the network mask.
