class-c IP & blogfarms. Is it really worth it?

I want to start discussion on whether having a unique IP is significant for SEO ?

This leads to complex blogfarms on bulk class-c ip's. I have seen as simple ring linking to complex forms taken from calculus text books....

question is, does it work? I guess the purpose is to create high PR with the blog farms, and then subsequently create "innocent" looking posts and links that go to the target page ?

My understanding is that blog farms are used as a vehicle to promote a central site. The individual blogs all promote each other in a designed pattern (there are many) with PR being transferred from the bottom up.

If hordes of social bookmarking links, forum spam links, etc are somehow being pointed to the various members of the blog farm, then it can be used to pass influence from these "dirty links" to the target site in a type of technological "link laundering".

Most of these types of blogs are of the automatic variety and scrape content on a consistent basis.

Putting the various blogs on different class-c ip addresses is simply one element of trying to cover your tracks when involved in this type of thing. It also comes into play that you can only get so much link juice from any one IP address, thus you need to have multiple Class-C IPs if you look to build an extensive blog farm network.

Jason over at SEOZombie has a free ebook on how you can construct one of these if you are interested in it. Here's the link: http://seozombie.com/sneaky/blog-link-farm/

I thought class-c IP & blogfarms will get you a higher risk of your blog or site banned in search engine?
    is this true?

different domains and IPs are essential. The reason is simple.

Imagine you are Google. You come across a site with 20,000,000 backlinks from 2,000 domains. Great. But... they're all on the same IP. What would you assume? It's a 'coincidence'? Or it's a spam attempt? Even worse, 20,000,000 from the same DOMAIN.

Easy way to get multiple class c's, domain names, is the free wordpress MU blogs you can set up. No hosting, no domain reg fees, just lots of different IPs and valid backlinks. it's discussed in the free ebook from free autoblogging ebook

    get it while its hot!
