    Dear Dave,
I am not a kid. I had used their service many times for the same transaction until the 29th of June, this year, when I got a notice saying my account is limited and being investigated.
The ensuing correspondence between me and that company has been ludicrous. I am dumbfounded beyond belief by how they can hide behind departments or staff that are in training. They have contradicted themselves and failed to honour commitments to release my funds in writing, wasting much of my time.
I am determined to bring a class action against them out of principle.

    Hi Guys,

Looks like there's lots of people are going to learn the hard way.

For those that think these posts are wingers just google the web for class actions about PayPal. Check WIKIPEDIA
I had it done to me just this week!!!!!!
I opened a new paypal account, verified it, transfered $2500 into it to buy some parts and BANG they locked my account. This was not a buy or sell transaction, this was funds I transfer from my personal back account which they have the number of verified for.
I sent them all the documentation they asked for and they still would not give me access to my funds, claiming my address was not verified.

I sent five proof of ID documents, including a photo ID. Four of which contained my address.
I went to the bank and they confirmed any one of the others with the photo ID was enough to open any bank account. (Bank requires 100points I have provided 190.)

QUOTE from PayPal: "We're sorry, but we cannot restore full access to your account until wereceive additional information. Please provide a copy of each of the following items: Please provide one of the following: **Acceptable documents for Proof of Residential Address:

*****Warning****** HOW CAN I MAKE IT ANY SIMPLER.

Paypal is randomly holding millions of customer accounts to ransom for no reason but collective profit. 21 to 180 days without access to your money? Think about it!

If it has not happen to you yet, it will and you'll be sorry!!!

I have asked for the funds to be returned and the account closed. They have refused.

"It ain't over until someone's in a pine box and it's not going to be me."

While you are into looking up paypalsucks.com go and find out who owns that site(and don't learn it in the site). You'll find out that the owner of paypalsucks.com is one of the largest internet scammer online. Right next to MafiaBoy from back in the day.

    @RJ

paypal is nothing more then a scammers playground these days; It is very unlikely that paypal is committing fraud as you say; and I am also
sure they are well experienced over the years to protect large amounts of money from scammers. If I was paypal, then I would be doing
the exact same thing, I would indeed place large transactions on hold, even after verification, at least for a period of time as to prevent
fraudulent chargebacks, so they are being super-careful, but at the same time they get to use your money to earn them more interest
(collective) before allowing you to access your money. I am sure you will get access to your funds sooner or later....If you had done a
$100 transaction, do you really think they would have locked your account? I hate to tell you this, but you or anyone else are not paypals
long time friends, paypal does not know you from that fly that just landed on a pile of crap...paypal is not protecting your interests,
they are protecting their business/interests, because if you were a scammer, then they may have been out of $2500, and I am sure
paypal has learned some pretty hard lessons from the past.

If you still feel that you have done everything right, then this is still not the place; Take them to small claims court, and sue them
for $2500, court costs, misc, etc...venting on DP will not get you anywhere....

I have used paypal for many years, and my account was placed on hold one time for
having some type of MLM site that they did not accept; I removed the site, bla, bla,
and 1-2 days later my paypal was active again. It does seem like the larger the
transaction, then the more risk you will face having your account placed on hold, and
you have to jump through hell and back....but do you really blame them? paypal
has to deal with lots of transactions daily; get in line like everyone else.

I suggest you change your attitude with them also; If you were rude to me; then
I would just keep your account locked on purpose; being rude will never get you
anywhere in life, even if they were rude in locking your account.

Sounds like you are a PayPal employee. PayPal does not have the right to hold someones funds for 180 days and not pay them interest. They are using peoples money to make money and keeping it for themselves. They are not holding the money in a vault. They are investing it and making money. That is why they but limits on peoples accounts. I had $2500 in my account from ebay sales and they asked me to provide tracking numbers showing that I shipped to 5 buyers. I had sold 130 items so I sent them the tracking number to all 130 buyers and they responded by telling me that they were placing a permanent limitation on my acconut. However, in their first email stating that the account was limited they told me that they would immediately remove the limitation. They lied.

I sold items on ebay for $25.00 each. I sold 130 of the items. PayPal limited my account requesting that I provide them with tracking numbers and gave me the names of 5 random buyers to provide tracking number for. They said that once I provided the tracking numbers my limitation would be removed immediately. I not only provided tracking numbers for the 5 they requested I provided tracking number for all 130 buyers. Now I can understand that they were concerned with the buyers not receiving their items so I could understand the hold until the buyers received their items. They sent emails to all of the buyers telling them to dispute the transaction. Some buyers filed a dispute but cancelled the dispute when they received their item. However, they told me that they are permanently limiting my account even though the buyers have received their items. I filed a claim in small claims court and they are trying to have it dismissed because they said that I have to file the case in their backyard which is Santa Clara, CA or either in Omaha, NE. I am still fighting this. You feel the way that you feel because you haven't experienced the horror that PayPal puts people through. I am disable and sell on ebay to make money to pay my mortgage. I am now behind in my mortgage and the money that PayPal is holding is more than enough to bring my mortgage current. If you were in my postion I don't think that you would look to favorably on PayPal.

**** Here is a follow up of my post from April. ****
After nearly (wait for it) 180days my PayPal account has been unlocked.
I spent many hours communicating with the (FOS) ombudsman.

PayPal had no intention of releasing MY Money until they had used it for their financial gain.
I did not have to provide any additional information in the finish before they unlocked the account.

As a reminder, this was a new account with money from my PayPal verified bank account, no sales to or from this account had been made yet.
PayPal unlawfully held my money for nearly 180days. I now await the results of a compensation claim.

I will never deal, use or associate myself with these PayPal criminals ever again.

I WILL JOIN ANY CLASS ACTION ANYONE WANTS TO BRING AGAINEST THEM!!!
