    Hi
I need to clarify on Article Marketing for SEO and link building.

A lot of people say that duplicate articles are not of much help to SEO. Now the confusion i have is what is considered as duplicate. To explain more about the confusion, please see the following 2 examples-

    1) Do they mean duplicate articles on one website
Example: I wrote one unique article and posted it on Ezine Article today. After some days the same article was posted on Ezine Aritlcle again.

    OR

    2) Duplicate articles on all websites.
Example: I wrote one unique article and posted it on Ezine Articles. Then the same article was posted on Article-Base, Buzzle,Go articles Etc etc

Now which one of the above OR both will be considered as duplicate article marketing strategy.

    Your comments will be appreciated.
    Thanks

You can't have content on your site that can be found on another's because your ranking will decrease. If you submit an article multiple places, that's the issue of the rank of the multiple places you posted. If you posted the article on your site, and to directories, you will be hurt by your own article. People will copy and paste submitted articles and post it to their sites and their sites' ranking will be hit. BUT, if you have a link on that article that you submitted, and you didn't put the article on your site, and it gets copy pasted everywhere....well that's a whole lot of free link juice for you :)

Taken to the extreme, though, having your sites' link you put on your article that is being passed around the internet like a Tri-Delt can be seen as spam. I'm not sure Google will hit you if other people are essentially publicizing your work, but I don't think it does well to have a link to your site on blogs that are owned by people who would just copy and paste articles by the dozen.

I suggest you to post the unique article on your one website in the place of some article directory.
In the the both case new article count as a duplicate.

Basically - the first article is fine and any other after that are duplicate articles...

Same as what GoldSEO says basically...

Except that - well - the juice may be there temporarily - but in most cases the duplicates are either penalized or dropped from the search engine results... and once dropped that will mean the link wont count - as it only counts if the pages/posts are indexed in Google...

As for being penalized for duplicates on other sites - that wont happen or we could deliberately do it to our competitors... only the sites with the duplicate will be penalized.

If google picks up content of which is else where your unique factor rating goes out the door, and google thinks your just reproducing or copying stuff, So when reposting information try and modify some sentences randomly and it will help out.

Wow, there is soooo much bad advice out there.

Write a quality article and put it on your site first so you get credit as the original author. Next submit it to a handfull of good article directories (don't submit to hundreds or thousands of directories), several HIGH quality blogs that are relevant and any other quality site that will accept it. Make sure these sites have traffic.

This is standard article marketing and it is very powerful. Companies are dominating extremely competitive words and generating millions of dollars in revenue using this as their main strategy to increase rankings. This is standard and normal marketing to get your name out and you will NEVER be punished for this.

DON'T use the article to create links wheels, spam hundreds of directories and blogs. This gets you in trouble and this is why everyone is running around saying how bad it is to use "duplicate articles"... everyone is trying to cheat by spamming their articles everywhere and fake link juice with link wheels. These type of tactics will get you in trouble. Many of the lazy people who used these tactics were punished by Google when they made adjustments to devalue duplicate content when used in ways to trick the system. Now these people are using spinning to try to get around the duplicate content issue so they can continue to take shortcuts, but this will not last long. Google is already picking up on spinning.

Long story short, just try to do normal marketing that is focused on attracting visitors. Submitting the same article to your link wheel with zero traffic or thousands of articles directories/blogs with no traffic will not get you anywhere.
