Claiming domain names

The business I'm working for has two domain names that were purchased by former employees. Unfortunately said employees put the domains under their personal names rather than the company name and have now disappeared without leaving info on the registrars.

The first domain name expires in 4 days. The 2nd expires in 1.5 months. I have no idea who the registrar is for the first (doesn't show on whois.mx) and know who it is for the 2nd (have an email into them).

My question is, what are the chances of getting these domains transferred into the business name before they expire (and stop showing the site)?

Is there any way besides whois to find out where a domain is registered? It's a .org.mx extension.

Thanks in advance for any assistance. We're kind of freaking out around here. :)

you may want to call the guys from http://www.nic.mx/ they are actually the only ones that register mexican domains, either .com.mx, .org.mx or .mx

call them here if you are in the US:

    Fax: +52 (81) 8864-2600 x.8111

I don't believe nic.mx will provide help that easily unless you can provide proof that you work for the same company. This usually requires a letterhead but varies from Registrar to Registrar.

    Goodluck.

I believe that this is a complicated situation.

I recommend that you have a discussion with your boss and team and see what information can be drawn up to resolve such an issue.
