CJ withholds 30% of the earnings?

Discussion in 'Commission Junction' started by Micromag, Feb 7, 2006.

    Hi,

I'm new in CJ and I'm from outside USA.

I saw a help that I need to fill a W-8 form and send to CJ and they will hold 30% of my earnings - is that true?

I saw recent reports from foreign advertises (Canada and UK I think) that never sent a Tax form and receive 100% of the earnings.

    Any experience with this? Thanks

Filling the W8 form is just a formality
They should not withhold taxes. This is the case with other affiliate programs.
As regards CJ, same thing should apply

I've never heard of such a thing.

They do take 30% of the commission that MERCHANTs pay to affiliates as their monthly serivce fee - nothing to do with taxes. Could you have read that somewhere and gotten confused possibly? That's the only 30% number I can think of.

Does not make sense to me. That implies if you are in the US they withhold 30% which is not true. They are not 'empoyers' and can't withold any taxes. It up to affiliates to pay their own taxes because they are self employed.
