CJ Requesting W9 Form

I got an email from CJ the other day requesting a completed W9 form faxed or mailed to them. I've been an affiliate at CJ for around 5 years, and they never mentioned this missing form before. In addition, I've earned more than $600 per year with them, and they've always sent me my W2 form on time with no problems.

Did anyone else get this email from CJ? Is it odd for them to suddenly realize I'm missing a form after regularly making monthly payments to me for 5 years?

    I got one too.

I've been with CJ for over a year and have been averaging around $115 a month. The last two months I've averaged just over $1000. I think maybe it's because I'm making a bit more that they want this W-9 form thing.

I certainly hope other CJ affiliates received such a request from CJ. If not, then I'm inclined to believe some type of scam is going down :(.

CJ is not trying to scam you, lol, they are doing what they are legally required to do.

Fill out the W-9 and send it in...If you don't want to fill it out, then you can't make money.

True that! oh I was wondering about this. I too received this email and I been a CJ member for quite some time with at consistent 4 green bar rating. I don't understand why they would all of sudden be asking for this? I have been getting paid for a while.

    Some sort of spam?

I haven't got an email yet but manage to see a lot of stuff, I have only been with them for a few months though.

I got an email too - I could swear mine was already on file, as they've paid quite a substantial amount of commission (in the high tens of thousands) to me over the past 1.5 years since I've had this account open.

I sent it in after checking to make sure the address was listed as being a CJ (or Valueclick) address. I also assumed that they had all of my required paperwork on file, although I couldn't remember what forms I filled out 5 years ago. Perhaps something happened to one of their filing cabinets and now they need to cover for it (joking).

Yeah.. I'm not sure when I filled mine with CJ, it's been too long but I know I've sent in long time ago. I'm getting paid though so whats the deal? It's not like we are signing up as brand new affiliates...

You guys are still complaining about having to obey the law...?

I don't know what CJ was doing before (I sent them my W-9 as soon as I joined), but if you live in the US, and they were paying you a good bit of commission without having your W-9 - They were breaking tax laws, and that comes as a bit of a shock.

It's kind of silly that you're complaining about having to do this when it's the law.

    Damn straight.

CJ is your daddy. If CJ says jump, you'd better do it.

I signed up as a new CJ member about 10 days ago. I was asked to fill out and fax a w-9 form. Seems pretty standard to me and I'm sure they are just making their lawyers happy. I haven't faxed it in yet, tho. Better get on that! :D

I'm pretty sure that my W9 was on file with them, but I got the message asking to send it in again. Kind of makes you wonder whether they just lost a huge stack of W9s, and now our social security numbers are floating around somewhere. Either that, or their financial department isn't very good with complying with the law.
