CJ redirect structure - Scaring 'Em off?

    I have been thinking on my conversion rates for my outdoors website (www.a1-outdoors.com); they are poor. I am wondering if part of the reason is the redirect structure in place for the links - on my computer, when I click any CJ link, I am warned up to twice (for each redirect, going from my machine to, I'm guessing, CJ and from CJ to the advertiser). Looking at other sites, ("www.youtrek.com", for example) I see that not only does the site appear to have sniplet datafeeds (a nice thing, which I want to implement), but I get no redirect problem when clicking on its links.

    I suspect the fix is a common thing. I have a friend who said he doesn't get the redirect warnings, but if I do, I know others do as well. I fear that people may be frightened off by the clicking structure. Anyone tell me how to clean up the link structure to avoid this problem? Alternatively, does anyone know whether the sniplet datafeeds are of a different type that avoids this structure and problem?

    By the way, a typical link looks like this:

    <a href="http://www.dpbolvw.net/click-*********** (my pub. info.)" target="_blank" >Get up ....</a>
    <img src="http://www.ftjcfx.com/image-***********(my pub info)" width="1" height="1" alt="skiing ..." border="0">

    Thanks for any thoughts.

    Not sure why you are getting redirect link warnings. Is it from some firewall software you installed or something or are they ie messages?

    I clicked on your site links and they all worked fine to me. There is no way to clean up the link structure if you plan to use CJ. CJ tracks the clicks for the vendors so they need the redirect to know when someone clicks on it. Your affiliate may have it's own program as well as cj's. You could sign up for it to remove the redirect to cj. I have no problems with my affilite sites from CJ and my conversion rates are fine.

    Jester - thank you very much. I have a couple of friends who have tried them, and have the same experience as you. I just thought that if I was having the warnings problem, others might be as well. And because my conversions are so lousy (read: not one sale!), I thought this might be why. I really don't know why, in the three months of this site, I have not gotten a single sale. Traffic is not huge, but when you add it up, at least one sale within these last few months would have been expected. At a loss.

    But thank you for checking it yourself and posting your finding. Helps very much to clarify where the problem is not.

    It takes a lot of work, some money and luck to get a site off the ground. You may have to run your site for a few years before it may generate some half decent income. It usually takes a lot of clicks to generate a commission.

    The main thing I would do is check out hunting forums and help people out there and have your site link in your sig since these are the guys you are targeting (ie hunters who are computer savvy).

    Also just my opinion but, I like your site because you do not have a lot of flashy ads. I try to use the same philosophy. The one thing I would do is ad a popular store ad graphic that looks professional and work it into your welcome message. Something the user will see right away and if the user is not interested in your site per say he may click on the link to visit your affiliate. The ad needs to be something people will recognize and trust like Basspro.
