CJ & PC/Video Games - Best Techniques?

    Hi all,

I started with CJ at the beginning of the month and so far I feel I've been productive. I've analyzed my clicks everyday and siwtched out ads, changed ads, removed ads to get from my initial CTR of 0.10% to around 0.85% (my 3 gaming sites are all forum-based, hence low conversion).

I was wondering what experiences you guys (& gals) have made in relation to putting out gaming products, i.e. the banners & text links look cool, but should I be linking to a product directly instead?

    My current stats are:
    - 200'000 impressions
    - 335 clicks
    - 0 sales/leads/etc

Many thanks in advance for your help..

    Cheers :)

Using text links and being descriptive about what you're advertising seems to work better than banners.

Anyway, what kind of site are you putting these ads on, and what age demographic visits it?

Thanks Johu, text links have been working better when I started with them 3 days ago. I put them within the first post at the top of the message and seperate with an <hr> (i.e. to the actual post content) .

Demographic is broad to say the least, average age must be about 19-20. Theme is PC games all the way.

If you have a loyal forum base, you should put stickys at the top of the forum when new games are coming out. Tell your users to buy the game through you, to help out the forum.

Offer an incentive though. Say if you sell 20 copies of a game (and you make $5/sale), $50 will be spent on advertising the forum, or getting a new design (maybe let the users pick!). Therefore, you make money, your forum gets better, and you'll sell more games next time something comes out.

Thanks for that suggestion, I'll also try to implement it. However I don't think it will be through CJ anymore. I have 350'000 impressions & 900 clicks but no revenue. Even though I've been promoting video game related material, lots with lead incentives and text ads. Think Amazon is maybe where it's at for me.

I might be able to help you out with some custom scripting that will utilize ebay auctions. Send me a PM with your site details if you are interested.
