Please add any bugs or issues that have been overlooked. So far: http://merged.ca/monetize/2006_06_23/cj-it-wasnt-broken-and-it-isnt-fixed/ - users with Javascript disabled never see links - SE robots will never see the link text - load times - incompatible with pages that are already forms (ASP.net) - incompatible with AJAX - carriage returns inserted before the link - lack of title tags - lack of alt tags - lack of mouseover window.status - difficult to insert into blogs / CMS
Does anybody know why are they even switching to js links? They don't have any plan to get red of the other urls right now, but would they discontinue them in future?
Please keep discussion about LMI to another thread so this one doesn't get too off-topic, thanks... short answer: control. By switching to JS, CJ has control over what links show where and what they show. The more evil answer is for internet metrics... by switching CJ to javascript, they will have access to 68% of the internet's site traffic patterns. from one of their biggest merchant AMs: http://www.revenews.com/bethkirsch/archives/001935.html
