CJ adds a cookie when you click on the link but programs such as Spybot Search and Destroy would remove them and when it happens, your friends order cannot be tracked.
I already saw some reports similar to seolion, and I don't think that CJ or merchants are cheating here. Is almost impossible to CJ or a merchadant cheat the system: what Do you think CJ are doing? getting 130% of this commission instead of the usual 30%? - So if selion send an email to godaddy asking how many sales he genarated this month according to their side, this number will not match his report? What do you think Godaddy is doing? they are asking to some of his technicall guys to remove intermetially the CJ scripts during the night? Hey boys Come on, Lets use the mind! No one asked seolion's friend if he has cookies enabled? Seolion, my friend: Don't worry - forget this incident, no one is cheating you - If Goddady is generating you other commissions, continue to promoting it normally.
There are several programs that block or delete CJ cookies so this could have been the case. Or if your friend clicked your link and then surfed around and then clicked someone else's link before buying you would not get credit. I agree with Heritage, I don't think CJ or most merchants would purposely avoid crediting you for the sale - they would lost MUCH more than they would gain by screwing affiliates. But there are technical gliches with tracking and cookie issues that could cause the sale not to track properly. The sales that don't track are a small percentage and in any biz there is a % of lost income. If you were a farmer you would lost part of your crop some year to draught or floods. Most farmers don't give up the farm, they just plant more seeds and work smarter to make up for it. NOTE I'm not saying you should not be concerned or should not follow up with CJ and the merchant to see what happened. JUST saying that many times when sales don't track it was NOT an attempt to cheat you out of commish.
Hi, Thanks to all for giving out your views on this.. I haven't received a reply from CJ yet.. looks like they have simply dumped it I suspect another thing with Godaddy.. My friend used a promo code while taking up the domain. Is this also possible that godaddy didn't report as a credit to the affiliate?
Normally it would be specified in commission detail agreement something like "except when used a promo code" but it isn't. Even when a $0.00 sale is generated (100% discount promotion for example), if you generate a detail report the transaction it should be there. I think that it is just a cookie problem in your friend's machine, and the life goes on.
