I have a financial subscription website and am thinking of using an affiliate program, perhaps CJ, to attract affiliates, but have one worry. I've run my site for 8 years and in the first year or two just directed ppc traffic to a sales page that didn't have an opt-in box. I didn't know what I was doing and conversions were really low. Like 0.25% - 0.50%. I then directed that traffic to an opt-in page and built an email list and have a good relationship with it. I get conversions from new people on that list from 4-10% depending on seasonality. So it has made a huge difference for my business. I looked at the clickbank marketplace and noticed that most of the product links go to sales pages, only a few direct people to squeeze pages. I posted about this on the clickbank forum and was told that affiliates "hate" squeeze pages, because they are afraid people who are using lists are going to steal their leads or cheat them. Do CJ affiliates have the same worry? To me this seems a bit irrational. Obviously some of the biggest marketers direct affiliates to squeeze pages. Look at doubleyourdating for example. But if the vast majority of affiliates hate squeeze pages then maybe it is a waste of time. Is this really a big problem or was it just a few people that don't matter in the big picture telling me this? Thanks for your feedback.
i can understand both sides of the issue, but i think it would depend on the individual program. have you picked which ones you would like to promote? you may want to contact them directly.
