I needed to implement an aff link here that would redirect a user to GoDaddy's domain-registration landing page instead of GoDaddy's home page. CJ offers many aff links and banners for GoDaddy, but none of them have the "Destination URL" parameter, so that can't be used. I figured out some other way but not sure it's 100% OK. What I do is simulate the behaviour that would occur from using the GoDaddy search form that is actually provided by CJ. This is what the search form would look like: and this is the HTTP GET that is generated from the form: http://www.dpbolvw.net/interactive?domainToCheck=XXXXXXXX&tld=.com&checkAvail=1&aid=XXXXXXXXX&pid=XXXXXXXXX&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.godaddy.com%2Fgdshop%2Fregistrar%2Fsearch.asp%3Fisc%3D0000000000 So instead of using the above form, I simply redirect the user to that URL, although it didn't originate from that search box. Am I violating CJ/GoDaddy rules ?
That should be fine & everything should track properly. Contact GoDaddy directly just to make sure that it's okay with them.
I don't think they will mind, you are still sending them customers, its their fault really for lacking a variation on their destination pages. Still, it doesnt hurt to email the affiliate manager to check.
I'm not sure - but if I were you I'd double and triple check - 1 of my affiliates terminated our affiliation bc of some stupid BS like that... All I'm saying is to ask - you lose nothing...
Three weeks ago I sent an email to GoDaddy's aff manager through CJ, without getting a reply. I then sent an email to GoDaddy's support (without expecting a response). Mailed them again now but probabely will get no response again... Thanks all.
