Not as function-rich as WordPress, nevertheless, it seems it's getting more and more popular. Any Chyrp users around here? :) The website is http://chyrp.net/

Looks like a sad knockoff of Wordpress.

yeah...looks and feels like wordpress...why not use wordpress itself with its huge community that is producing modules and updating the code? they are all free...why fool with this?

Looks simpler and less confusing than other platforms, at least in first impression :)

    Thanks!

Edit: Haven't seen any commenting function?

I suppose that simplicity was one of the author's main objectives (apart from speed I guess - " designed to be very lightweight"). So it appears to have been attained :) And no, there are comments ;) E.g. http://chyrp.net/blog/clarifications#comments
As for the WP vs. Chyrp part, I have to disagree. I don't know whether you guys noticed, but the name itself - Chyrp - is an allusion to Twitter, and as we all know (or not :p), wordpress.com and twitter.com both have their friends and foes, and, in my opinion, they aren't actually trying to compete with each other (at least directly), since they seem to be occupying different niches. That's why all those comments about it being a WP clone are IMO a bit overstated.
If you're not planning to use it, fine, no one's forcing you :p. But I think the guy coding it is worth being given a chance. After all, EVERY new blog script can be called a "WP knockoff" It's not like WP is ideal for everyone - MovableType, b2evolution or TextPattern, and many others are still being developed.. ;-)

I aggree, I found Textpattern's templating method easier than WP's, and also I think Textpattern is faster than WP.

Anyways, thanks for informing that there is actually a commenting functionality.
