Hitchins is definitely one of the biggest neocon supporting wankers in the whole world but I have to admire the scumbag for actually going through with it so he actually knows what it feels like. Thank you for the vitriol. It had anything whatsoever to do with the OP. I read the article, but if it mentioned that he had some sort of revelation, much less "found Jesus", while being waterboarded I must've missed it. From what I gleaned, it doesn't mention a change in his official view on the subject of torture. As an aside; who honestly believes that waterboarding is not torturous?
Personally I find it ridiculous, these guys who 'test' out water boarding. #1 You know it's coming #2 I highly doubt you'll get the exact same treatment as an 'enemy' At best you'll get a weak example, kind of like the kiddy roller coaster at the local fair compared to that of 6 flags biggest coaster.

You might be right. #1 probably makes the biggest difference though. Not only do you know its coming but you know its just a demonstration. When it's done to bad guys, even if they're familiar with the method, they're not sure how far the people administering it are willing to go. Plus they may have been mentally beaten down by lack of sleep in a dingy prison cell leading up to it. One thing's almost certain, it won't continue no matter which candidate is elected. They're both against this stuff I believe as well as gitmo.
