Nothing to write home about. I was in during the 1st Gulf War. However my unit was never deployed from the US as the war was over in a few days. Though, I did get a National Defense Service Medal. But, the medal is perfunctory.

I was also working in the World Trade Towers about a month before 9/11. Luckily, the job was finished up and I wasn't in the building.

Almost doesn't count except for horseshoes and hand grenades.

The point is that before people complain about military service, look at the people that are running the country.

This is a joke. Homeland Security director Janet Napolitano is targeting US Military Veterans that are serving the country and refuses to crack profile extremists from target countries with names like Mohaamed or crack down on the millions of illegal aliens crossing the border.

I want to know how touching the junk of an 85 year old WW2 veteran is the airport is going to make America safe?

 

Did you even read the article that you linked to? Do you think it is correct that the hands of an intelligence service should be tied behind their back and won´t be allowed to look at certain areas? England gave India Independence because the Indian soldiers coming back from WWII were trained soldiers that could engage English force in Guerrilla warfare, are you saying that American veterans are less trained than Indians? With all the loud mouth right wing propaganda around in combination with difficult economical situation, don´t you think some of these veterans can join extremist group? What kind of Kaos and danger do you think they can create with all their trainings?
I am sure the loud mouth right wing Republicans will be the first to criticize DHS for not doing enough when one of them start shooting people or exploding bombs.

Learn a little bit history and I don´t mean by watching Gandhi movie. England was engaged in Guerrilla warfare in different part of Asia before learning their lesson and giving India independence. Gandhi could sit in his home as long as he wanted and India wouldn´t be free without the danger of civil war and Guerrilla warfare.
