To be honest, I earn less affiliate money on Christmas period than normal. I think maybe people prefer going out for shopping, and dont have time to surf online. Does anyone have earn more money on Christmas time?

I ahve the opposite opinion about that. People click my ads like mad around christmas time, and I've made 3x more money from my best sites.

I even made a "what to give your mom/dad/girlfriend etc" site, reffering to different products. That site alone made me a new flatscreen, + a little extra cash for mye mexico trip in february :]

Holiday shopping has its own trends. Christmas/New Years is a great season for affiliate programs selling items that can be used as gifts, clothing, electronics, books and magazines. Our magazine subscription affiliate program is bursting with sales. On the other hand financial offers don't do well in late november and december. This is a slow month for our credit card affiliate program in terms of affiliate commissions that our affiliates earn. January on the other hand is one of the busiest for the financial industry and just like last year we expect our affiliates to make a killing on credit cards and other financial products in January.

To summarize, you have "hot seasons" for different merchandize. Christmas is hot for some products but not for others.

I think people love going out for shopping in christmas because its a tradition. Even though a more and more people are buying online, i think during this time of the year people like to to go out and browze the shops.

If find it is good from Sept. - Dec. Starts to slide after that. Sometimes, you can get some good promos for after holiday sales and specials. I place those creatives up on my site as soon as they are avai.

Personally I feel that ads are bound to get clicked a lot, In my own case I tend to search for things online, and know exactly what to buy when i enter a shop, and in the process i guess this constitutes my maximum clicks on ads.

but this may obviously be different in other cases...

Online sales are always up in November and December...this year was no exception.

According to comScore, November online spending in the US was about $10 billion and December will be about $15 billion. The rest of the year it averages less than $8 billion per month.

So for most affiliates, that should mean a good November and December. :) It depends on what you're promoting, though.

I also agree, Christmas means gifts, and gifts to some people is money.
So the money they have is the more they spend thus the more we make.

I havent since any increase/decrease in my earnings though :p

Which nerd would be surfing on Christmas Day (oh wait... I am :p)

Days, like Christmas, Boxing Day and New Years Day are quite low on hits on my sites thus the rev. will be lower.

But I agree with the point about the lead up to Christmas ... more people trying to find gift etc. and clicking ads. But of course it does depend on what your site is about. If it has ads on Web Hosting, I don't think people are more likely to click on them because Christmas is near.

I think it all depends on what your pushing, and how prepared you are.

Is there online boxing day sales?

I think some affiliate programs where you sell things do well a few months before Christmas and also during the January sales. About a week before Christmas the sales seem very low, which can be espected.

Our sales went up starting end of October to beginning of February. However, comparing the sales from 2005, our 2006 sales income is a bit lower though.

It is only now that my traffic is starting to recover from the Christmas season. It should take a few more days before it is totally back to normal.

Can't wait until it's back to normal.

    depending to your products,
there are many programs related to this period when you can have more income but there are other when your income decrease.
    - the best things that you can take carrefully for these fluctuations in your income and choose many programs related to this period and others period of the year.
    - take your last years statistic and work to arrange your business plan.
