What amazes me is that there are stores around here that sell Christmas stuff all year long and they are open all year. How the hell do they get the crazies to come in in March or June to spend their money? I just don't get it.
It would be really trippy to see Christmas stuff for sale in NY these days with a temperature of ~90 degrees F.
Hmmm I wonder what Australians think when they hear "White Christmas" considering Xmas is when it's summer down there.
Boy, that was some pretty corny writings. That guy had to do some major stretching of the truth. Maybe gworld wrote that? Did you find that site next to area51 listings by chance? Maybe tied into clonaid? Raelians? or the john burke society? LOL
I know it was wierd when I was living in the Philippines, hearing the Christmas music, seeing the decorations and riding around the village in shorts and a t-shirt on Christmas. It was a totally different experience.
That's the normal Chritsmas day here, and I hate it!! My dream is having a "normal" Christmas, just as you see it on TV... everyone gathered around the fireplace, snow falling, cold weather... I hope I can do that next year
Anything we can do to help? This could be like a feel-good movie plot where at the end Fryman will be sitting by the fireplace celebrating Christmas with credits going to DP
No, actually read the book a long time ago; I think the website is a more recent expansion. Probably more known in scholarly circles.
I used to have a Santa costume. I'm not sure how I would feel having fryman sit on my lap. OK. I lied I know exactly how I'd feel and awkward doesn't even come close to describing it. No offense to fryman, but there are very few DP members I’d want to sit on my lap. This is actually a new thread worthy topic. Which DP members would you let sit on your lap?
Could it be they are tryig to be well indexed by the more traditional time for shopping? Serious Christmas enthusiasts beginn shopping the day after Christmas on all the clerence sales. Decorations, trees, paper, cards, etc are readily snatched up. I was at one after Christmas sale and heard one woman say she was finishing up her shopping for next year. Shannon
Yeah, but here Christmas isn't such a popular date... at least not in the decoration part. I guess it's because most of the people are struggling to save enough money to have some dinner and can't afford to spend on decorations, but if you drive around the only places you will find that actually remind you that it is christmas are the malls and similar public places.
It is very sad to see people accumulate huge credit card debt that they can not afford for Christmas gifts. Shannon
