I don't really know. It's hard to say what it would be like without the mosaic law's past influence. Babies don't seem to be very ethical until they are taught to be, so it appears to be something instilled by society, which is influenced by many things and it changes over time.

That's a question not for me to answer. Mainly because I can in no way judge anyone as far as morals and ethics are concerned.

There are "christians" and "so-called christians".

"Christians" follow the footsteps of Jesus Christ. Accepting he is the Son of God and also doing all he commanded us to do in regards to his commandments and respecting his Father.

"So-called Christians" do it their own way. They don't recognise Jesus' Father, they worship Jesus instead of the Father and they do not pay attention to Jesus' commandments.

Many say they are doing the work of Christ. But the Bible's words from Jesus himself says it all in Matthew 7:15-23 where he says:

15 “Be on the watch for the false prophets that come to YOU in sheep’s covering, but inside they are ravenous wolves. 16 By their fruits YOU will recognize them. Never do people gather grapes from thorns or figs from thistles, do they? 17 Likewise every good tree produces fine fruit, but every rotten tree produces worthless fruit; 18 a good tree cannot bear worthless fruit, neither can a rotten tree produce fine fruit. 19 Every tree not producing fine fruit gets cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Really, then, by their fruits YOU will recognize those [men].

21 “Not everyone saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will. 22 Many will say to me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many powerful works in your name?’ 23 And yet then I will confess to them: I never knew YOU! Get away from me, YOU workers of lawlessness.

Jesus condemns these ones because they never knew him. They never did things the way Jesus said to do. They did things their own way.

True Christians pay close attention to Jesus. Jesus did nothing but honour his Father for the 3 and a half years on earth as a human. He healed the sick, resurrected the dead to give us an example of what is to come soon. But, the biggest and best thing he ever did was to praise God's name through and through and at every opportunity, no matter how vicious the attacks were upon him. He was tortured to the nth degree until death. But his integrity to death was 2nd to none because he knew that God himself was the only one who could solve all of mankind's problems and only his way.

    Col :)

Hi Rebecca, I wish more would follow your footsteps and maintain great post etiquette!

as a Christian I should no more judge a non-christan as I should a fellow believer. Does it happen, do we think or sometimes even say it? Of course, we are only human after all but that does not make it right on our part.

Certainly, I believe an atheist can be just as ethical and moral as a christian. I'll go one step further, a religious person can be as well but unless they profess Jesus as their Lord nothing will have mattered and they will not enter the kingdom of Heaven.

but that's an entirely different topic!

Thanks:) So judging from the posts on here I don't think the majority of Christians are trying to say they are more ethical or moral. But do believe you must accept Jesus or you won't go to heaven. Since most atheist and agnostics don't even believe in heaven they don't truly care, but maybe in some twisted way are offended because people don't like to be excluded. I have studied religion a lot and deep down inside in my heart I really do not accept the bible, at the end of the day I just cannot bring myself to believe it. If god does exist, I think he would understand because he would have made me this way.

the acceptance of Christ is pretty much the cornerstone of Christianity...after all Jesus Himself said..."no one comes unto the Father but by me".

it's not what a lot of people want to hear but that's what I believe to be true.

I understand what you are saying, but some people just don't believe. You cannot make or force yourself to believe in something that you just don't.

Using a book to claim moral authority is like saying you're the best at football because your team is first in the division.

None of these books matter. It's what you do as an individual that defines your morality.

you are right, I cannot, nor can I sit here and try and debate you into believing (which I never could anyway b/c I suck @ that sort of thing).

it has to be revealed to you. many people have no intention whatsoever but it happens.

I wish I could remember the guys name but there was a renowned atheist once who set out to disprove the Bible and the more he got into it the more he realized how much he needed what was contained in that very book! obviously every-one's experience will differ though.
you mean you don't claim such based on sports?

would that be worse than looking to the stars?? :p

some people base their entire 'outlook' on astrology.

that to *ME* is just as silly as what you consider to be illogical...that of the Bible as being the be all end all.

I think the Bible and astrology are equally ridiculous. That's just me though.

I don't think I worship anything. I have a lot of things in my life that keep me grounded.

I don't worship anything. I simply try to live a decent life and enjoy things while I am here.

That is by far the most false claim i've ever heard.

However, i do agree with you on one point - christians are among the highest religion in prison. this is an absolute FACT. One thing you failed to investigate is how many of these christians only became christian AFTER they were imprisoned. this is because someone who has nothing to do but stare at walls all day and read the bible will infact see the truth that it holds, and therefore proclaims to be a christian.

You also have to consider that Christianity is already the largest religion outside of prison.

and if that's enough for you great, I wish you the best!

you never know, maybe there will come a day when you ask yourself if there's something more to life other than just occupying space :p

Sorry what difference does that make?

If 10% of the population is atheist, than that means that 10% of the prison population should be atheists. However, of course that's not the case.
