As I read about this forum, I see a lot of different religions come under scrutiny, above all Islam, but I see nothing about Christanity So today, I will stretch your minds, and ask you all to start a debate on Christianity. BEFORE I START I'm not Jewish, Muslim, Atheist or anything. I believe there is G-D, but do not believe that religion does justice to this G-D. Why do I say G-D without the O? Out of respect to the Jewish readers out there who find G-D spelt out with an O offensive. I'll Start: Firstly, Christianity is a cult, plain and simple. What is a cult? A religion that worships a man. And what does Christianity do? Worships a man. Jesus claimed to be the son of G-D, but so do the many million nutters out there every day, and all they get is prejudice. So why is it that Christianity is exempt? The simple answer lies in the middle ages. In short, many powerful people flexed their influence to keep Christianity the No. 1 religion. Just a little thing called the crusades...you know? Many soldiers dead, in the name of Jesus... Secondly, Christianity is the only religion that constantly contradicts itself. Granted, other religions do so from time to time, but not on the massive scale that Christianity does. Here is a prime example of this: We have the command: Thou shalt not worship idols. And then Christianity says "Yeah Right" to that. We have saints, patron saints, prophets, disciples, and Jesus. All receive shrines, paintings and the like. Might as well bring out the voodoo dolls and worship them, it only takes a name change here and there... Why all the contradictions? And this leads to my next point: Christianity stole 1/2 of it's religion from the Jews. They took the Torah, chopped it up to pieces, and called it the "old testament." Then they took some half-baked letters between the "Disciples" and stuck them together. What do we have? The new testament. It's all one big jumbled mess. Anyways, TLDR? -Christianity is a cult because it worships a man. -Christianity is self-contradicting to the point of stupidity. -Christianity is half of someone else's religion. I don't normally ask for rep when I post, but feel free to do so; I think that a lot of people are going to -rep me, just for my different views, so take pity on me!
Do you not think it hypocritical to leave out the "O" in god to protect the feelings of one religion while calling another religion a cult? I'd agree that christianity is a cult, it's contradictory and a mish mash of various other cults. But i think the same about Judaism too, and islam and any other religion.
1) Another very important difference between Judaism and Christianity is the issue of hierarchy or centralization. In Judaism, they say: "go select your rabbi", meaning: a person should first think about what he believes in life, and then go to find a rabbi that suits his ideals. There is a free will to decide, which is in the base of the fact that judaism as a religion managed to survive despite prosecutions while all other nations that came into existence in parallel with them and also a lot later disappeared. The law and ideals are changed according to the need of the hour. In Christianity, this is not the case. There is a ladder of authorities from the priest ending with the pope. Like in a military. One voice, one opinion, one way. 2) The worship of a man in christianity is no different than the worship of Muhammed in Islam. The differences are small nomenclature: one is called son of god, the other is called the only real prophet. Dare to "insult" him, and be beheaded. Both religions revolve around the "deeds" and "sayings" of this particular "personality".
So.. The purpose of this post is not for an actual debate, but for defamation and slander? Of course I'm not really asking a question, so you can see the similarities between our posts. If you take the literal definition of a "cult", every single religion in existence is a cult, not just Christians. In fact, if someone has a favorite T.V. show they are considered to be part of a cult. Saying you respect the Jews unlike the Christians is like saying you respect Conservatives unlike the Republicans. Although I disagree with your motives, you wont receive any -rep from me.
It depends on what meaning you give to the term cult. Generally, in it's original Latin form of "colere" which actually only means "to give worship or give reverence to a deity". No big deal, that doesn't have the negative condentation that most people associate with the word today. From a sociological perspective, the term has changed to simply mean a group that does not conform to the mainstream. Therefore, muslim in America would probably be a cult by sociological standards. And christianity would be considered a cult in India. However, the word has changed greatly in the last 200 years. In fact, there are even checklists (look up cult checklist on wikipedia) that you can find by some governments (including Canada) of how you can identify which group can be called a cult. Christianity does not fall under this because it states that the group must have a specific level of "threat" revolving around them. For example, collecting firearms or committing crimes that harm others. So Al Qaeda, thats a cult. The Baptist church down the street, no.
Here you're saying basically that you're unbiased in attempt to add credibility to what you have to say without having an agenda. Here you're saying you're extremely biased after being called out. Not just favoring one of another, but liking one while disliking another which happens to be the one you're putting in a bad light. Was the point of your thread to be able to say "Christians SUCK" without it getting deleted? lol Good job... I guess.
Actually the reality is that both here at DP and elsewhere around the world it is in fact Christianity that is under attack, not Islam. I'm not sure where you got the impression that it was the other way around.
I'll try to help you understand something about Christinity. 1. " -Christianity is a cult because it worships a man." Have you ever asked yourself "What are the most important commandments in Christianity?" 2. " -Christianity is self-contradicting to the point of stupidity." What is self contradicting in Christianity for you? 3. " -Christianity is half of someone else's religion." There is only one true religion in the world and that is the religion of: "Love one another." If in another religion there is a commandment "Love one another" there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. That's what God wants from His children to love one another. In His Kingdom hatred has no place.
As far as christianity worshipping a man that is a point of view. Jesus himself said he was god in the bible as I have pointed out many a times here on dp , and I dont think that is something you can debate. Isiah even foretold his coming when he called him the prince of peace and the everlasting father in the same sentence.
Just to correct you on that. Muslim does not worship Muhammad (PBUH). In fact it is a sin to worship him. Clearly stated in Quran.
