I'm redeveloping my ecommerce website and am trying to work out the best keywords to use. I've got a product, it's a reflective window film and it's available in a variety of colours. I could list the 12 different colours seperately and make use of slight variations in the keyphrases ie silver "reflective window film", bronze "reflective window tint", gold "reflective glass film", grey "mirrored window film" etc. Is this a better tactic or would I be better calling each on the best searched keyword "reflective window film" ie silver reflective window film, grey reflective window film etc. I know it might be difficult without knowing the niche too well. The first option seems the best to me but am I missing something?
how many people get that focused on a window film websearch? Im guessing not that many. stay more broad
First of all I suggest you to make a list with those keywords you think that can be relevant (those you talked about in your post). After that use the Google keyword tool to check the global searches. You might see that maybe it is not worth to spend time in a keyword that almost no one is using when searching. At the same time you might get keyword ideas. To be honest I don't know about that niche but as HighRollerT said it is probably better to focus on more general keywords as the product itself is quite specific (reflective window film) so people might not go more even more specific when searching and you can work with synonyms or variations. Anyway as I said before have a look to the global searches and choose your keywords consequently.
Make a list of keywords you think might be relevant to your website, and use the Google Keyword tool to determine which gets the most traffic.
Well googles kw tool will tell you approx volume- go broad in this case, Colors arent searched very often- not a huge demand
There's nothingg to stop you having a broad page of your product with all colours available as well as seperate pages for each indivdual colour on either the same domain or another domain and test both variations to see where the traffic goes.
