I understand that nobody wants to give away their trade secrets so I won't ask alot of specifics. But how should I go about finding a niche for affiliate marketing and how much can I expect in the beginning. Also which affliate program is best for noobs? If anybody could just provide broad info like that I would really appreciate it.
    Thanks Gdot

It can be frustrating at first to get started... but it will come.

Here are a few ways to find a niche,

    - What's selling good at Amazon? Look for a niche within amazon that has a few books about it.

    - Use Google to help find keywords with a lot of searches, but less competition,
    https:// adwords.google .com/select/KeywordToolExternal

    - Use ClickBank .com to see what products are selling by popularity,

    - Use this forum to see what people are talking about (IM niche), but also see what people are selling as articles or web sites,

    - Find a big market (example, diet), then narrow it down into a smaller sub-niche.

As for how much you can expect to make... no one can say. How much work will you put into it? What niche will it be in? What type of products are there to promote? etc.. Maybe $10 first month, maybe $200.

Affiliate programs, also depend on the niche. Example, if your niche is about fixing cars, you should look at CJ .com and Amazon for physical items.
But if your niche is about learning how to garden, then there are several information products like ebooks that you can promote from ClickBank .com

    First...
Find a question/problem/issue within a niche, then find an answer to it, maybe make into a product or giveaway for free for email address, then can sell affiliate products to them.

Or skip creating a product and just promote affiliate products.

    Hope that helps,
    Joel

There are many different methods for choosing products you can look at:

    hot trends
out of stock hot selling items
    pre order items
    latest fashion
    best seller books

best places to check for trends is amazon and check out the best sellers, also checkout ebay the pulse section is fantastic which tells you what people are searching for to actually spend money on.

Why start selling things just plucked from thin air, if you can see what is proven bestseller and hot products you know there is money to be made there so you need to dive straight in, sometimes though with hot trends there competition can be stiff which is when you start going into smaller niches.

Most of the time, choosing a product is a process of trial and error. You can always sneak on other affiliates and see what they are promoting and then decide if you would want to try those products as well :)

A few things to think about.

    1. If you are going to be doing bum marketing I think it's a great idea to try and find a niche you can write about easily. Even if you are doing all PPC, working in a niche you know about can make it easier to find the right keywords and to creating a great landing page with quality copy.

    2. Make sure the vendor doesn't try to steal your affiliate sale. I like to try and avoid vendors that have opt-ins. It's hard for me to trust that they aren't stealing the affiliate link. But you could join their opt-in yourself and see if you really want to work with 'em.

    3. I like to promote products with at least a $20 payout. It just adds up too slowly otherwise.

    4. I wouldn't necessarily go with the most popular/high gravity products and I wouldn't necessarily go with the low popularity/low gravity products. I don't even like to consider that really. I think there are pros and cons to both approaches that sort of cancel each other out.

    5. Check out their landing page. Is it convincing?

You can try promoting new products that have just been launched. Since they are still new in the market, you'll have lesser number of competitors.
