As I understand it, the key words on each page should be specific for each page content. I also understand that the same words should not be repeated over and over. Here are my questions: 1) is it ok/desirable to have variations on a theme separated by a comma? For example: "birthday, birthday party, birthday cake, children's birthday cake" or should one write "birthday, party, cake, children" I would tend to think the first would be the better choice, but am not sure if the repeated terms are bad. 2) how does one determine the top searches for keywords? Is that done with the google adwords tool, or is there a better method? 3) is it advisable to have relevant descriptions of page content for a page in the alt tag? I've heard people suggest this as a SEO strategy, but am wondering if this may be considered to be tricking a SE? 4) I've seen folks on this forum list the top search terms for theme, how are those lists generated?
Hi 1. I would do it as you suggest, you should be targeting phrases rather than single keywords, it doesnt matter if the term is repeated. The meta keywords section is practically obsolete now anyway. 2. The Google keyword tool is great but it can take you hours and hours to find low competition ones. Better to use a tool. im a big fan of the one in my signature, check that out, will save you hours and hours. 3. Yes, do it but dont over do it. Basically if it looks like spam to you then it will to the search engines, just put your keyphrase in one of the image tags on the page. 4. They do it with keyword tools. Cheers Ste
For SEO, I wouldn't even bother including the keyword "birthday" as you wouldn't show up for that one word anyway. Stick with your longtail keyprases. If you feel an SEO technique is tricking the search engines, then use your gut feeling and don't do it. A free quick and easy keyword tool? Just use Google search box to see their keyword suggestions or adwords. Good luck to you, Gabriel Irowa
" It is okey to use the keyword phrases than using single keywords, it is difficult to rank well in search result. Long tail keyword is a better idea" I would tend to think the first would be the better choice, but am not sure if the repeated terms are bad. I usually use google adwords tool in getting keywords and checking with the high volume search and also checking the daily searches or keyword traffic and keyword difficulty as well
Give your meta keywords 10 seconds thought then shove them in and forget about it - Google doesn't read the meta keyword tag at all, and yahoo only gives it a very minor importance. It's the least imporatnt thing in SEO.
