Choosing low competition keywords

    Hello,

One of DP member, Googlelady, wrote a series of 2 very interesting articles regarding KW research. Here is the link:
    http://www.googlelady.com/608/week-7-keyword-research-guide-ii-2/

However, still I have a few questions. Would appreciate if somebody could clarify: How do you estimate if a keyword is high/low competition?
In order to be able to get an estimation, I would say that for every KW you need to see how many results it gets from Google SE. Then, comparing the number of searches with the number of results, give some kind of ratio (actually, if I understand correctly, this is KEI). Is this the factor which determines if the KW is high/low competition. In any case it is never mentioned in the article, neither in many other documents dealing with SEO. So am I missing something?

    Thanks.

Yes, KEI is one of the index you need to consider. Some people will also consider the (search volume / search results) ratio. However, this is not enough. You will also need to study the websites which get the first few ranks for the keyword.

I have written a short article Find the best keyword for your niche on this matter. Though it may be very basic to some people. But I think it is still good for you to read it since I think it may probably answer your question.

Keyword research is one of the best things a website owner can do. Seo is second because if you get listed for keywords that have no traffic your wasiting your time.
