I am an engineer, still one more year to complete my degree.

I got a job for $600 per month (in india) and its a reputed outsourcing company.

I am also a webmaster making approx $1000 to $2000 per month.. just working from home

If you were me, what would u choose? :D

Is your website at a stage where you need to do a lot of ongoing work, or could you do the job as well, without ending up working too many hours?

    Is your website income stable?
Do you have some money put aside to support you for 6-12 months if your website income fails?

What is your true interest... where your heart leads you? Where would you be happiest?

For me, working from home is great. I'd hate now to have to go out and work for someone else. I like the freedom, and the control and creating my own destiny.

With your website work, the income level is almost without limit, if you keep at it and build on it. With a job, you are limited to the salary the company offers you, maybe with small bonuses or raises now and then. But, if the job offer is the work you really want to do, then the money is of less importance. To be really happy, you should try to work at something you love, something that gets you up enthusiastically in the morning, rather than with dread at another day of work.

Work on the computer business and put 50% of ur income in a reliable investment company(maybe in the bank) so you probably wont have much problem with money.

Here on Brazil, with 500 thousand dollars you don't have to work anymore(once you have it on the bank, u will be getting 5k a month, that is ALOT above the average) and u will be considered rich. I guess it works like the same for india, 2000 dollars might be considered alot of money on Inidia :)

I get like you and i'm 18 and i guess more than 90% of brazilians with 40 years old don't get the same ammount of money as me, so i'm on the top!

I'm gonna start computer science degree in august not to work with it, just to know more about computers, in my opnion i think you have to work with the computers and save money, if someday ur websites are shut down or something like that. You will have money enoght on ur bank to live for like 3 years at least if you saved for some years. It's time enoght to find a good job and the probability to this happen is pretty low.

But remember, as internet isn't a trusty source of income so save as much as cash that you can!

I know i'm kinda crazy about saving but by some math that i did, With less than 30 years I will have a million on my bank... It's gonna be just 12 years of saving and eating cheap food! With 30 years old i will still have alot of time to enjoy the life, and if i die, so what? My family keeps my money and have fun with it. :p As long as the government don't get my money when i die i'm all good.

I have confidence in myself that I can always earn something more than the job, but what about criticism ?

Thats what I am afraid of. The society would say "He is just sitting at home, worthless" [Even if I make 10 times more cash than my job.]

If you can handle both, with time left for family, friends, relaxation, etc. Then do both, whats better than making $1.6k a month in dollars. Wait, is this in Rupees?

Noway. Setup a Proprietorship firm and tell them you run an internet business.

If they nose a lot, ask them to "get a life".

Keep investing your money, stabilise your net income and try to expand.

Once you have reached a point then you may consider quitting your job and pusue various hobbies in your life!

Well, if you are working for a company and earning resonably good, then you can always rely on that company since it gives you constant income and reliability compared to your home based company.Money is not important. Your consistancy of your earning source is important.

    hey,

the most improtant thing is job satisfication. If you don't feel comfortable working under anyone then wait for some time and slowly start setting up your own business.

If your concern is how you are viewed when you are "just sitting at home" perhaps you can rent office space and go there and do your work. I wouldn't do it just for appearance sake but if you could find business reasons (being near others to collaborate, having a place for meetings, focusing better on your work, etc) it may help you in business and in appearance.

Can you work part-time at the IT company? If yes, I would do that. This will ensure that you will continue earning if your websites go through a bad period.
