Hi all, I need to choose a domain name for my website, advertising my pet portraits. Unfortunately alot of the possible names are taken. Assuming that people will type in "pet portraits" when searching on search engines, if the domain name is pet-portraits (with an -)would it still show up in google? Or is it better to make sure that the words petportraits are not broken up and instead maybe choose something like "quality-petportraits"? Which would be better in tems of giving it a good ranking in google? Thanks.

Google counts dashes as spaces, so a domain like pet-portraits would be good for indexing in Google and other search engines. While domains with dashes aren't as good as domains without, they're still really good domains for development.

Hi, thanks for the replies. I noticed a few pet portraits artist with websites had used their name at the beginning of the name so I ended up doing the same and registered: simonspetportraits It was quite cheap so I thought I may as well. Hopefully this will be ok for ranking.
