When you have no eye for whats pretty or not, how do you know what colors to use on your sites? I mean I can't even match when I dress.

I saw a website one time that let you name colors and name palletes. It is hard to explain. You could name a group of colors and then browse a list of user made color groups to use for designs, or art or whatever you need good colors for. I cannot remember the site unfortunately.

And if you are looking for really busy backgrounds...

If you don't use them for your website, you will definitely enjoy them in a psychedelic kin of way!

I would surf the sites you like. When you find some colors that stick out to you you can sample them and keep a log. I use Nattyware's Pixie tool. It has a free download. It samples the HTML color anywhere you point your mouse.
Very useful when matching colors for sites.

That is wonderful site. Normally when I design website I will go for some online references. I chose some cool color combinations that suits the theme of the site. Some times header and rest of the page colors will be matched with logo colors. I always try to keep not more than 3 colors on any websites.
