    Hi,

First off; learn about color theory: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_theory, http://www.colormatters.com/colortheory.html , http://www.worqx.com/color/index.htm and more (search for 'color theory') then you could also look at some online tools such as: http://wellstyled.com/tools/colorscheme2/index-en.html, http://www.hypergurl.com/colormatch.php, or http://design.geckotribe.com/colorwheel/ (again search for more). Finally; if you need to find out what color (colour) pages on the Web are you can use a little accessory such as: http://www.colorcop.net/

    Hope this helps :)

thanks for these links and thanks for link to kuler.

but one thing I don't understand is how to best put those colors into use?

I guess I'm not a graphic designer because I have seen color sets like those before but haven't been able to make my sites look any better...any suggestions?

I also thank amsterdam for the links. I´ll study them later. And thanks for the other replies too. Maybe i will someday learn by practise and some more practise to create sites with matching colorschemes that wont scare away the people.

    And to Katy: Moikka!

I second the use of the header image as a basis.

It's also a good idea to ask advice if you know you're not good with colors. Get some artistic person you know look at your design before you head out to clients with it. There's a lot to design and if color isn't your thing, don't run the risk of scaring people just because you are color blind (or your designs look like you are).
