choosing blog domain

Okay, say you were going to create your main blog (which you'll devote lots of time and money) - what sort of domain name would you use? Would you use your full name, as many people do, or would you use a domain related to the topic?

What if your last name was particularly long (such as mine is)? What would you do in that situation?

well I wouldn't use my name. Who am I, people don't know me. Maybe something different, for example I bought domain mylifesablog, com if I'll ever want to make a personal blog (probably won't happen, so I have the name up for sale on sedo for now).

If your very well known on the internet, as in people refer to you by your name and not your site then maybe go for your name.

If its a personal blog about you, go for your name maybe.

If its a blog about a topic or topics but not about your life then probably best to go for domain related to the topic.

If you are planning to write about your personal life then choose yourname.com, and If you are going to write about other topics at the same time not blogging for money then also you must choose urname.com... But if you want to make money online from your blog then dont use ur name better choose a wise domain name which reflects its contents....

If you are blogging about a particular subject matter, you have to get creative and try to register a phrase or, some terminology that is particular to that subject.
When I was looking for a domain a few months ago for a Nightlife/Dance/House/Trance/Club site...everything even remotely close was taken, and way too expensive to get, so I got creative.

I remembered that the turn table that revolutionized DJing and mixing (The Technique 1200) measured in Beats Per Minute, (instead of Rotations Per Minute, rpms, like original turn tables).
And since 124 is the standard or average beat of most dance music, I found 124bpms.com unregistered.

Given the state of unregistered domains...you have to get that creative.

I'd go for a domain name related to the topic.

    i'll suggest u the following :

    1. Register your domain having your name in the domain : like john-online.com or harryworld.net
    2. Resgiter the domain with ur name only : johnj.com or arun-kumar.com
    3. Register the domain which describes ur blog well say : phpzone.com

I'll Go for the second b coz :

    1. Your name is unique .. so will be ur Domain
    2. You can have ur own email
    3. It looks more personal.

as far as domain is concerned go for a .net or a .eu domain ( if ur from europe ) they both sound nice for blog.
You can find internet.bs really helpful as they provice some cheap domains with awesome free addons.

Go for their site at : internet.bs OR their whois at : internet.bs/en/domain-name-registrations/index.html
