Fist of all if this is a wrong section to post this thread, i request moderators to please movie this thread to particular board, i tried to find specific board for this discussion, but i am unable to find that.

I want to start a new site on flash games, i am little confused about the extensions, i.e. .com, .net or .info,
i found that a premium type name on this is available with .info extension.
So its better to get a new domain with .info except .com
is there any concern with .com domain, or i just go through with .info domain to get rank.

    Sorry for my grammar/english

The extension doesnt much matter on SEO. People like to use .com just because it was "default" on the internet user mind

If you're successful you will probably lose traffic to the .com domain with same name as your .info. People normally type in .com instead of .info. My advice is to try and find a .com instead.

    in your case,
you will rank easier in google when using .info
but i think you will hardly get loyal visitors as billion have said, people normally type .com
if you think brand is important then use .com

In terms of SEO, a .com will always be better.

Try to use suffixes/prefixes on your domain name, or hyphens. However, an exact match domain for .info might also be good.

ok i got your point. one thing more, if i select a domain, like this

    one character keyword.com
    or
    one digit keyword.com

    which is better

All common extensions (com net org biz info) are equally in seo perspective and none of them has any advantage or disadvantage. However, I would still recommend .com over other extension if possible since it is easiest to recognized.

Pagerank has nothing to do with website quality, weights and ranking anymore. Google has already fine tuned them over a few years recently and they are not like they were.

Everyone seems to have their own opinion on whether .info is worth it or not. I have used .info .com and .net and have had success with all three so I'm not really sure which works better. If you were looking to flip your domain then definitely go for a .com just because it looks better and people will bid higher for it. If you are simply using the domain to make your own site and do your own business with it then I don't see you having a problem with dot anything. More than your domain it's your traffic generation and how you keep up with your site that matters, not .com

People tend to take .org and .com TLDs more seriously. Other than that it doesn't matter much.

However, choosing the domain is really a matter of "function" vs "fashion" or "keyword-richness" vs "branding".

Short, catchy, easy to remember domains are great, but will not do quite as well via the search engines. However, once the domain has picked up popularity then a longer domain is not such a good thing. Short domains are probably preferred in the long run.

I am barely moving up in search engine. But i thought of a better domain name. If i were to change it, can that affect my website moving up the search engine? Also does switching servers affect it as well?

always try to get the 3 TLD's .com .net .org or else try to get country specific domain name if you are targeting that . rest are hard to rank for .. so waste of time and resources ....

Domain name extension does not have any effect on SEO. But it is better to go for .com domain name extension, because it global and it sell better than order domain name extension.

I would go for the character, a digit looks way too spammy

First choice should be .com then .net otherwise don't bother with it.

Domain should not be too long but at the same time should have the right keywords.

Many people would suggest you that the domain extension is not so important or the domain name, but actually it is !!
So try and select a unique name as well as a .com extension which is suitable for your niche.
