choosing a domain name for the DP directory

you got everything wrong...

1- it is not me that was asking for a directory for DP members , i just joined the discussion and was 100% behind anything they propose ...
then when we realised that shawn did not want an official directory , i proposed the idea of us members creating an unofficial one , and that was it, but when i noticed that no one was reacting i and some members just created it on a subdomain , we did not customise it because personally from my experience i was expecting such responses.... (humans are predictable)

2- as i have said the directory was on a subdomanin momonterary , and many domains were proposed so we were trying to choose between them (we have even a digitalpoint domain...)

3- the no follow tag will be applied to sites that do not link back , at least we should try to make a descent directory of this one for that the link back is optional....

anyway seriously if you think a closed directory that only accept members of a specific forum is made for profit then you should think again

 

Ok, those answers were lame AND you didn't answer the most important questions, so I will try again:

(1) If DP doesn't want an official DP Directory, what gives you any right to create an unofficial one?

(2) You are creating a recip directory? Why? To get alot of backlinks and better PR to your site? No one who isn't on crack submits to recip directories. Sounds like you just want to take advantage of DP's popularity and exploit for personal gain.

There is not going to be any official DP directory so there is no point of talking about it. This has been discussed here several times.

as i have said i see no harm in having a directory just for the gang wether it was official or not

Lets say you register a domain, create a directroy, get a layout, but judging by the response in this thread i dont see any member submitting their sites in that directory.

Just drop the idea and move on.

 

Ok, let me break it down for you, goober smooch. Recip link aren't optional if you nofollow the ones who don't recip. This directory certainly isn't going to be very SEO-friendly so how the hell do you expect DP members (only?) to submit there knowing their links have no value, either because it's nofollowed or because it is no more than a link exchange rather than one-way link.

The gang already has thousands of other directories to submit to, many that will offer far more value than what you are offering.

It is always better to stand on your own foot rather than becoming parasite and using other's popularity and name.

If any word is not copyrighted then it doesn't mean you always have enough moral reasons to use it.

 

wether it is copyrighted
or not , shawn approval will be essential inorder to use any domain that cotain the word digitalpoint , inother words we will only use such domains if we have shawn blessings ,
about the reciprocral link , it was removed , nofllow tags won't be used , it'll be link to us if you want strategy.

personally i asked for an unofficial directory back when they were discussing about an official one and getting always a no for an answer, so the least i can do inorder not to be a hypocrit is to stick to this idea a while and do some efforts to make it work, but then if it doesn't then i could say at least i tried and wasn't waiting for others to do the job....

 

Ok, Mong's statement about not using DP in the domain whether copyrighted or not was great. But I would add, even with another domain name, you should not advertise yourself as the DP Directory, whether it is unofficial or not.

By the way, I just gotta ask this: How the hell are you going to know (for sure) that the submitted sites are owned by members of DP?

if they know DP then definetly they will be members
