    Hi all,

How to choose right niche for your site?

I am a beginner to site development. I want to use Adsense on my site too.

Is there any site which will guide beginners to choose right niche?

Basically I am/want to be a programmer. I am thinking to create a site for programmers. But, I found that there are too many competition for programming sites. So, Please guide me the right path.

Please give me your inputs. thanks

    Kanna

Kanna, for what it's worth my opinion is pick a specific type of programming (language/style/type of titles developed/etc.) that you enjoy the most and build your site from that.

For example, if you use JAVA and prefer to create fun/entertaining applications in a modular-block style... well, there you have your niche.

Nearly every topic is saturated with sites already, finding your niche is just about narrowing down to a piece of the topic's pie. And if there are others interested in the same narrow slice as you then you have a winner too.

    HTH,
    Scott

    that's good advice.

I would probably try to create a nice for that one type, but have some subcategories open in case you want to dabble in the other stuff later though.

I created a tv show fan site one time, and loved it... but I later realized I would have probably enjoyed just a "tv show" fan site instead, so I could discuss all shows a little more openly.

You need to research that "market" or "idea" you are interested in and see what has enough traffic but not much competition. In the "programming" market might be hard to find your "space" - especially if you are a beginner. Maybe you could try to start a website on one of the new "fashionable" programming languages - such as ajax or ruby on rails ...

If you are in a non-English speaking country maybe you can try to start a local "version" of rent-a-coder.com ...

You need to do some research.

And if in the end you cannot find something at all in that market try a different one. Think what else interests you and ... do your research.

I think the best advice I have received is just to "try something", when you are starting.

It is very unlikely to be a rip-roaring success, but it helps to find out where your strengths and interest are.

    Hope that helps

The programming industry is not saturated. You can make money through keyword search. I believe there may be an aspect of programming people find difficult or which may not have been fully explored. When torrents and .net came on, I did a keyword research and discovered high search keywords without a single competition. You may try to do a search and offer something.
