Both Kontera and Chitika Linx pay way too less.

I had 202 clicks with kontera a few days ago and it resulted in USD3.98...

Chitika works much better for me than Kontera but I still use them both to fill secondary ads space on my sites.

Ain't that the truth. Chitika was a great source of revenue for my forum, but since that one day I dropped it.

You'll notice that many of the affiliate companies are revamping - guess because of the way the ecomony is these days - they want to stow away their earnings and not share as much. It's a vicious business but one that we have all come to love, :)

I don't think it is the affiliate companies, it is the price of gas and rate of foreclosures that has made the buying public quit buying.
I only had Kontera on two pages, and I'd never heard of Chitika until I opened up this thread. What affiliate work I do is direct with the company, some of whom rank their best affiliates. In the last two months I have come up from 65th place to 42nd place, and I'm not making more money with one company and made similar advances with other companies.
The guys ahead of me before this were buying ads on Google, and other sources, then taking their profit from the difference in cost and pay. Many of these people were receiving checks ten times as big as mine, but their profits were short. When conversion rates drop they have no recourse but to rethink their game plan.
One big dealer ahead of me was receiving checks in the $20,000 a month range. As conversion rates drop he cuts out buying ads and his sales tumble, which drags his ranking down and that leads to despair and dropouts, which is what is hurting us affiliates; there are fewer people buying clicks and they have decided to pay less for those clicks.
When the buying public gets over the pump shock its old buying habits will reassert and those of us that hang in for ten will be in better shape than those that go out with the tide. Jumping from one bandwagon to another because of sagging profits is a nice clean way of committing suicide.
It isn't just one tree in the forest getting wet, all of them are. At a time like this you will not be able to tell if the company you are switching to is a failure all the time, but only now when times are tough. Consequently, I am sticking firmly with the people who have consistently made money for me over the past ten years, even if my bottom line cracks in half.

Its really weird, I applied to Chitika 2 years back and was rejected. But just 2 weeks ago I got an email from Chitka encouraging me to re-apply to the program since they'd started some new formats and that I might get accepted this time. And yeah, I did get accepted! I just hope it wasn't because loads of publishers have been leaving chitika that they're opening it up to more people (especially who applied earlier and were rejected)

It could be the fact that Chitika has had a surge in publishers which has led to their higher paying inventory being bled dry... meaning most people end up with low paying ads and earn much less overall (Chitika earnings overall would likely not be affected negatively if they had 100s more publishers with high daily impressions etc)

I am having problems with chitikas impressions number, they are somehow absolutely different from adsense impressions count, much much smaller. (70% of my visitors come from USA, so thats not due to not supported countries). Anybody has this problem?

Edit: I had a really fast reply from Chitika explaining how they actually calculate impressions, it appears that they don't calculate impressions for CPA, thats why I see smaller numbers.

Your stats are very bad, much worse than mine. I still have bad stats though, I used to get 35 - 40 dollar per day with Linx...

Wow, I guess I won't bother with Chitika links. With the premium ads, I'm averaging over .15 per click on sites I had lower earnings per click in Adsense.

I think there is a lack of good advertisers...there are so many programs out there and times are tight...

Good that I never even put up Chitika ads on my pages. It's great to see this post. Came timely.

Seems like most you guys are worse at reading earnings reports than my 3year is at ancient Greek. If Chitika or Kontera get paid less per click, and visitors get more used to avoiding ads YOU are going to make less..

Thought this was a forum for "Professional" developers and marketers..
