I'm just wondering what would be better for income, Chitika or Amazon Associates. There are a few select items I want to advertise on my site (along with AdSense). Now from what I understand, the Amazon affilate links pay a comission only if a user purcases an item. Also, I would only be able to sell to users in the United States unless I make multiple links for all the other Amazon sites. With Chitika, it's pay-per-click, but is there any restrictions on countries? Will stores that don't ship outside the US not show up on the list? Or do I just not get paid for clicks from certain countries?
Chitika only pays for Clicks from the US, Canada and the UK. I have them running on my classifieds site. They work quite well. I did a bit of experimenting with Amazon a while ago but went back to Adsense and Chitika.
Chitika pays for traffic from the USA, France, Germany, Denmark, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Norway, Sweden, and Netherlands. (I think Canada and Australia too, maybe even more, but I didn't find it listed on Chitika's site.) Visitors see ads from stores in their country, so UK visitors see ads from UK stores. Chitika does have an alternate URL feature. So when a user visits your site from an unsupported country you can have it automatically display another type of ad you specify. Your results from either program will likely depend on exactly what product(s) your site is about. Very popular products might do better with Chitika as there could be lots of stores competing for a bid. However if the product is expensive it doesn't take long to make lots of money with Amazon. Something else to consider is the payment frequency. Sometimes it is tough waiting months for Amazon payments since they only pay after the end of each quarter while Chitka pays monthly. A few of my sites where I've rotated advertising show that Chitka made me ten times more money than Amazon. Other sites I run showed results closer to 50/50. It really depends on the product, so ultimately you should try both (perhaps alternating daily) for a few weeks and then tally up the results.
I notice they say 10,000 monthly hits is recommended for the program. Does that mean they'll refuse me if I have significantly less hits than 10,000 at my sites?
They will approve you if your site makes sense for products. If you have a site about product reviews but have less than 10,000 page views, they will still go ahead and approve you. On the flip side, even if you have a million page views but your site is about jokes, you might be refused.
I am also using chitika with google in pakistan, is it beneficial for me coz i am pakistani webmaster ?
