I joined Chitika and put them on various different sites yesterday. I got the report today: 0 clicks. I am excited about Chitika and am sure I can tweak their placement and keywords to get a decent CTR but how can I do that without channels? Without channels there is absolutely no way to know what's going on. I know we can put the channel code in the script, but does anyone have any idea how long before we can actually see this in the reports? Has there been anything said or hinted? I am not going to put anymore ads up until channels are available because it's just pointless. I feel like a blind woman stumbling around in the dark.
The no channels thing is a pain right now, but they do serve cool ads. So they have earned a spot on my site for the time being. I'm hoping they get the channel reporting up before the end of the month.
I agree that the ads are cool. I really love the whole concept. I'm just afraid to spend two days adding more ads if I won't know what's working and what's not. I have over 40,000 pages... I want to be able to test what works on a small group before adding them to every page.
From what I understand, channels are on their way. Hopefully soon because it is pretty much impossible to have an idea of what's working and what's not. I also hate having to click like 4 icons before I see my current revenue. It should be on the first screen after login. Other than that, it's great having a new revenue source.
I use this: addfreestats.com, if you paste the tracking code to your site and enable exit link tracking, you can see what products people click on. It does give you an annoying image, but it sure is nice to be able to see what products are performing. E.g: Product clicks more info about 4" heel knee boot 199 more info about valentino pink corset-like top 11
Because Chitika doesn't have the Adsense restriction of not having more than one account you can, in theory, setup different accounts for different websites/pages under your control. It's nowhere near the same as channels but gives you some earnings feedback till channels are implemented. In the meanwhile if you remember to insert the channel code in your ads then you won't have to re-do all the ads when channels goes live.
