Chinese text on Web pages

    I've been doing some research and don't think Chinese text has been properly defined on webpages/in programming. You can type and read chinese text if you have the correct fonts, but those who don't have chinese fonts installed...what do they do?

    i found that if I imported Chinese text into Moveable type, it converted them into a series of numbers/symbols. Once this is read in a browser it can be easily viewed even if you don't have the relevant font installed...is this correct?

    Also how to get this to work in <title> tags?

    Can you just enter the chinese words using a software such as Chinese Star?
