In order to supplment the AK47's long range weakness, every infantry squad in the Russian (Soviet) army had one man with Dragunov SVD Sniper Rifle.

Even the mauser k-98 rifle was an excellent Infantry weapon when supplemented with the firepower of MP40 and MG42

ha! You are talking about tactics now, its another story.

the key words you just said "Soviet", which is like almost 20 years ago, AK47's arent in service now, well, maybe in 3rd world countries they are.

    M16 - 1961

    AK 47 - 1949

    From Wiki:

they simply "did not grow on one field" hence its incorrect to compare them.

The M16 has been upgraded to the M16A2 and M4 rifles. The M16A2 has a heavier barrel and is more durable. The M4 is a smaller assault/police version.

The Ak47 is more popular on the international black market due to its low cost. Grade A surplus AK47 rifles can be purchased for as little as $60 and marked up for a substantial profit.

And US don't sells weapons right......

China trades weapons for oil. Not too good, but US invades Iraq for it. Good Job!

AK is Cheaper and more durable. M16 you still may say it's a better weapon but depends where you are. I heard that M16 in muddy terrain or during sandstorms and stuff they get jammed a lot.

But yes M16 is more accurate and more comfortable to hold imo at least.
