I am just wondering, both of these huge countries are flying, their growth rates are fantastic, their potential to grow is still very strong and they are strong militarily and both have 1 billion and more population. China is a communist country with a capitalist economy, thanks to Mr Deng Xiao Peng, he does not care whether it is a black cat or white cat, as long as it catches the rat it is a good cat. So we have a capitalist cat there. In India, thanks to Mahatma Gandhi legacy, it is the largest democracy in the world, though a bit messy. First class talents, but I cant say much about their politicians. Which do you think will be the next country sharing the superpower status with USA in the next 50 years? My personal opinion is India. I feel that China has a very huge jump to go which may be dangerous and lead to chaos, the jump from communism to democracy (or some sort of democracy). India on the other hand is already a democratic country. As long as the middle class keep increasing and the population gets better off, I feel that the quality of their politicians will increase with it. Frankly communism and democracy is vastly different, I do not know how China can tackle this issue easily. Any takers?
The real advantage both of these countries have, is much higher educational standards and less cronyism than we have in the West. The examination processes are tough, and there is no getting through if you are not well studied. An intelligent and skilled workforce is the real driving factor for their growth. Today, kids can't even find America on a map, when kids in those countries learn multiple languages upon graduation.
You are bang there on the point. The quality of education in these countries makes lot of difference. But still both these countries have a long way to go. But i some how don't like one thing..... most of the people in the west just under estimate these countries like anything.... I guess it is again because most of the people there aren't that well educated ...hee hee ... no offense
Agree, though India Institute of Technology and Business aren't very well known outside India, but from what I had heard in the academic world is that their standards are by no needs lower than those of Ivy League. They have a long way to go no doubt, we may be able to see the difference in the next 50 years.
China = Super Power at Lead Based Thomas the Train Toys India = Super Power at food that makes you shit fire
You are funny India Yes if you tried some of their curries, not just shit fire, you will blow out fire like a dragon Cheers!
It's still good food!!! That and Chinese.. YUMMY.. My fav, hands down is Korean, but they are not on the list...
that was funny ! but do we always need something funny like that ??? dunno from where do people come and spam threads ......... may be some yet another super power
I'll have to try that one day, I've had curries from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sri_Lanka My aunt and her family are from there, they go back every few years and bring some authentic food back to cook. I like spice, so I love it! Chinese buffets are almost always good! Never had Korean that I can remember.
The quality of education in these countries provide a better paltforms to them to stand in World Market and there is no doubt these two countries would become a Super Power in next few years because of their currunt Growth. India have better chance because middle class keep increasing but problems is politicians. India needs a politicians like Modi who can develope the country. China is already doing well. Both have great telents to make their country as a Super nations.
Not the next few years, next fifty years it is possible, they are still backward in a lot of things. Mismanagement, civil wars, revolutions and what now stopped their growth for quite a while last century, it will take time to recover and to be strong both economically and militarily.
I am an Indian. 50 years is a long time. We have good engineers, doctors and scientists. Now, we need good leaders. Huge Population is causing terrible problems. The transport system is awefully inadequate, and has no chance of upgradation or expansion. Transport is the blood vein of any country, and should be very good to achieve economic prosperity. Government is woefully corrupt. You'd be shocked... Also, we have tremendous shortage of power. China is building 2 coal power-plants every week, according to BBC. But in India, it is hard to build a powerplant once a year. There is just no money for it. 50 years is very far away. Hopefully, India will be a stronger, wealthier country by that time...
Well I agree on your point but fact is that other Super nation doesn't have good growth and they are going down fastly. For Example USA, at the moment USA growth is not much good and clear indication on US $ rates. I hope new goverment take care about it. Well India and China can be super nation in few years if the improve infra structures which is going well at the moment not enough. Also most important is that both country's growth is not equal to all parts. For a example in India, Bihar's GRP is 3.2 while Gujarat's have 18.1 which is more higher than Top nations too. So they have to improve each and every area.
I have made some very long lasting friends on the net from india, and one of them is at the base of mount everest as we speak. You gotta have some guts to take that kind of cold, but he tells me its like heaven on earth there. me personally, i would like to see the aurora borealis once in my life.
Well history aren't kind to India until recently, but thank goodness, the phoenix of Asia is flying off and flying high. China and India will be the motors of world's economic growth in the future as developed countries' growth are stagnant.
True that the two countries are growing at an astonishing pace. India has an advantage as it has always been very diplomatic in its international relations. Thanks
India is the leader of the non aligned movement, it is seldom interfering with other countries' affairs, except for Pakistan where there is still quite a lot of enmity. I am more at ease with India as a Super Power. Regarding China, you never knows, why it feels that it is powerful enough, what will it became. Hopefully it can be a peaceful monster. Whatever it is I see emergence of more super powers in a positive light. With one super power, it can do anything, with a few, it has to consider the implications.
