exact searches value isn't correct most of the times. The extension is so much important when buying a domain. .ME is good for personal sites, not for chicken sites. Reg fee from my side.
The exact search is an approximate value (no one can predict the future) and fairly accurate (the times I have seen it as very incorrect is on third party keyword research sites that scrape these values from Adwords and inflate the value, or use broad/phrase match and claim it to be "exact"). Don't worry about the domain extension, but the issue here is the domain name. It's an EMD. You can't just place crap on it and hope to rank off the weight of an EMD. (The EMD update is about poor quality EMDs.) However, it's a decent domain and could be a nice brand (as there's a big audience to tap into). BUT your problem is the search engine competition: I didn't do a USA search, just a UK one and it's very tough competition. The first 30 results are authority sites. You would be chasing long tails for quite a long time, but even on those might prove tough competition. At least, I am assuming you want to target the keyword "chicken recipes" (hence the domain name choice). This fact makes it worth not much (reg fee). However, 1-2 years ago it would have been worth more, as EMDs were more powerful.
.ME needs to be paired with a word where personalization makes sense and gives a real brand advantage. For example, Buy.me or Website.me or even Recipes.me. But chicken recipes are not especially crucial. Why would someone devote an entire website to their own recipes for just one ingredient? No value.
There are lots of one word domains are available with good number of searches in .me actually, with .me verbs match good for example: interest.me love.me call.me message.me mssg.me etc. these domains are soled in xx,xxx and x,xxx
