I can't say that PBS has a political agenda, at least that I've ever seen. They've seemed very impartial, so I think they're more credible than most of the other networks. This is scary! http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/cheney/etc/synopsis.html
I saw this documentary on PBS the other night. It is a must see! Truly eye opening. It just validated further my suspicions. Frontline produces some really really good documentaries. Highly recommended.
PBS Frontline is the best show ever made. You can watch every full episode online. Go watch now. All hail King George !
I watched it. Very well done. I was floored by Goldsmith's interviews, in particular. This is a guy, a staunchly conservative lawyer, who had nothing to win, and everything to lose, by standing on principle. Astounding.
I've watched most of it so far. What Chaney and Addington have done seems to smack of an allowed dictatorship when in a state of war. What next, a freeze on elections so Bush can stay in power? Probably not, but I doubt they can expect many of these Signing Statements and other actions to continue.
This SOBs going behind the back of the American public like sneaky bastards manipulating laws to give unprecedented powers to the president, pretty much a dictatorship. And how convenient to declare "WAR on terror", an invisible enemy with no army nor country so they can police, spy and control us until...well forever! What these ass holes are doing is treasonous.
Exactly! It seems that there's a lot of coincidences and convenient things that happened during this Administration, all in favor of Chaney. The "surprise" attack on the Towers (questionable that nobody knew ahead of time, due to certain actions just before the attack) The "war on terror" Halliburton gets the contract in Iraq with no competition (Chaney was President) All after his 30 year campaign to increase the power of the presidency. This all seems very contrived. Cheney and Addington are such underhanded manipulators, it's sickening. If the constitution does so, then why all the secrecy and underhanded tactics? Also, the constitution isn't perfect, hence the amendments. I think this is blatant abuse of power. The Founding Fathers wanted a checks and balance, for good reasons, and Cheney and friends are flaunting it.
Welcome to the other side my friend. I feel exactly the same. People have lost faith in the government because the government has gotten to be TOO BIG and TOO POWERFUL. We need limited government or else we will hand over our rights to some lunatic that will take us for a ride...you know kind of like Bush/Cheney and this administration?
Isn't it weird how the old Republican mantra was 'no big government' and they are 'too powerful'. Right around and before the Reagan era. Now, it's the current "Rebublican" administration that is doing the opposite of the former mantra. Are there two kinds of Rebublicans? The small government, good for business types and the big government, all powerful, work in secrecy types?
I just love how they say, the president doesn't need the authorization from Congress to declare war. Oh, by the way, when in the state of war, the president has absolute power. So, we just stay in a nice, happy state of war and let our elected dictatorship have it's way.
I highly doubt you'll see them around here. There's no way to spin this story. They are too busy spreading propaganda in other threads.
