Checking card approval (not charnging it, but seeing if it's valid)?

Is there a way we can check to see if a card is valid card. We won't be charging anything. Say it was $0.00, but we would have a form to see if the card validates?

This would be for a membership based site. That will eventually get billed around 30 days later (as the terms states). It's a free trial based site.

Most systems check buy try to charge small amount then return to card in few days.
So zero balance is not help. If you have some amount, try to add to your iTunes account and see how

Yes, what you are asking about is credit card authorization.

What payment processor or merchant bank are you using? Most have this feature, so you should contact them to enable it or perhaps it's already enabled and you need to find it in the interface (Plimus comes to mind :D)
