I came across a site similar to mine that has over 50,000 backlinks. Is there any way to see where all these links reside and perhaps even download them as an excel file so that I can look for trends or visit ones that seem interesting? Thank you
Not Excel, but you can use the Link Checkup link checking software to pull in the backlinks from all the popular search engines, filter out the duplicates, and save to a text file.
Yeah, programs like these are much better then simply doing a link search in google or something. Google won't even display all the links it's aware of though, I believe.
(shameless self promotion) Backlink Reporter will tell you where all the links come from, the anchor text used, the pagerank of the page the link is on and where they rank for the anchor text phrase.
I have a few suggestions. 1) You should display the count for your list somewhere so that there's a quick way to see the number of results found. 2) You should make a service version. Here's what I imagine... The version would run on a Windows server. You would enter your various URLs into it, and it would run all the time, checking one after the other. When it is done checking one, it should write an HTML format report to a specified folder (I would set it to a folder in one of my sites so that I can just bookmark the URL for it and check it anytime). You won't get "real-time" results, but you can take a look and see the new links almost as soon as the search engine knows about it. If you wanted to be really slick, you could even have it (optionally) send some sort of notification when a new link is detected --- an email for example, which would include the info for that new link. Some people would appreciate that. I can see this being used by people and companies that do SEO for a living to offer to their clients to see the results of their work. You would charge more for this version, of course. Just some quick thoughts. 3) It seems there are a few small issues. For example, the CD Burner anchor text on this site is incorrectly detected as "cdburner", which would mean it would not add in with the totals for any other links with the "CD Burner" anchor text. http://www.iambigbrother.org. Also, a lot of the URLs for sites detected with links have the Yahoo redirect in front of them. Seems you'd want to cut that part off. I increased the backlinks to record to 999 and am running it again. So, I can't say more until I see it again then, but this should give you some info to start...
just search on google, link:yourdomain.com. You will find all the sites linked to that site (listed in google). Downside is harder to navigate, but if you combine that with the pr search from seochat.com, you can just look at the higher pr sites.
That tool is not even convenient. The links are not clickable. Plus, it does not work the same as his tool. His shows anchor text, merges them together, etc.
i am evaluating your tool, its taking time for a established site. but for the new site it worked fast and results are interesting.
The best tool i know is http://www.linkvendor.com/seo-tools/domain-popularity.html Should everyone bookmark.
The more backlinks a site has the longer it will take to analyze all of the links. It is worth the wait though
i am sure. i tried few other sites with lots of backlinks and it worked fast. due to some reasons its hanging when i tried this for our site http://www.dealsway.com you may want to take a look at this.
I ran a report on that site and it worked fine for me. I dont know why this happens but I have heard of one other instance where a webmaster couldnt run a report on his site at his office, but when he took it home it worked fine. It may be a firewall/security issue. Im not sure.
