check question

    i just received my $20 check under my name. And i am only 16 yr old and i live in California. Just wondering how am i suppose to get the money? I dont even have a checking account or anything.

    You must need to have a bank account for that. There is no any other way :( Don't think so that you can do anything with that check :rolleyes:

    You simply go to the bank where it came from, bring valid identification cards for verification, and you can get your $20 in cash. No need to have a checking account or be in right age.

    I think it depends what type of cheque it is, and the rules of the bank. Here in the UK some cheques are strictly for bank desposits only, however there are a lot of banks that allow you to exchange the cheque for cash at the counter.

    Your best bet is to goto the bank and ask yourself. You might aswell take some form of ID with you in case you may exchange it for cash.

    hi there, you don't need to have a bank account to claim your check. just go to the bank where the check was issued, bring ID's (driver's license, school ID etc) and then you just need to sign the back of the check (do this when you're already at the bank and the teller verifies the check though). you can get the money in no time :)

    p.s. i have three checking accounts that's why i know all these things lol
